Finally! An anamorphic release of Lifeforce.

It's included in the triple feature set, They Came From Above, which has Alien, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers and Lifeforce. I got it at Circuit City for $7.99. The UPC number is 024543537335. Does anyone remember the cool trailer Lifeforce had with the eye?

Now all we need is a Blu-ray release. Damn, a naked Mathilda May in 1080p. I just got chills.

So, you've watched to confirm it's not just a package labeling mistake? Now it just needs it's own release.

I looked at the back cover art on DVD Empire I don't see anything that mentions being enhanced for 16x9. Definitely watch to confirm whether your claim is valid.

I seriously doubt they stuck an anamorphic reissue in with two other movies for eight bucks. It is probably the old non-enhanced version.

Based on the cover art I've seen for that set, it appears to contain the old non-anamorphic disc of Kaufman's Body Snatchers as well.

Unlikely I agree, but not completely without precedent. The Steve Martin Box set has the only Anamorphic Lonely Guy right? And doesn't the only Anamorphic 48 Hours come in the 48 Hours Double feature set? And 8 bucks is a low price at Circuit City, but MSRP is $19.99...

ps. I hope jkth67 is right. I love this movie.

^ The Steve Martin set also has the only anamorphic Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. The John Candy set has the only anamorphic version of The Great Outdoors.

Even if this were true, I'd still rather just wait for a BR release at this point.

This would almost be worth eight bucks to get a decent transfer of Lifeforce even though I have have all three movies in the set. The picture on the old DVD is piss-poor in some places.

Or I might just wait for a Blu-ray release at this point. (Yes, Mathilda May would be glorious in 1080p. )

I would certainly pay the $8 for the anamorphic Lifeforce and throw the other 2 discs away. But, I'm not willing to buy without more confirmation. Has anyone else picked this up?

More than likely a labeling error, but a hell of a first post if this pans out.

Waiting for confirmation like the rest.

Yes, I watched the film before I posted and it is enhanced. There's no mention on the packaging about that but there are several other things on the DVD's that aren't mentioned on the back of the case.

Is this a 3 disc set? If Lifeforce has it's own disc, those of us that own the original edition can buy this one, swap discs & sell the triple feature to a store that buys back used DVDs.

Could you please list what those are?

Thanks.

I checked my local store and they had them in stock but they were not listed on sale. The price on the package is 14.99 and I wasn't going to chance it for 15 bucks. So, JKTH67, was that the price on your set and it rang up as 7.99? I know the website has it for that price but it is not available for in-store pick-up.

Shelf tags are meaningless. If you are at all interested in a title go thru the checkout process, you can always change your mind.

Yeah, what Trevor said. "Price check on pork and beans please!!?"

Circuit City is notorious for not pricing shit. If you have no idea what the weekly specials are, don't even bother walking into a B&M and lucking out.

Can you also let us know if the copy of Body Snatchers is the non-anamorphic or anamorphic version as well?

I WILL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT-and the time 100 mins or 116?

enhanced as in anamorphic-? or letterbox widescreen.

Actually, put the disc in your PC and open it on the desktop -set it at "column view"
you should see VOB/IFO/BUP_vts.01 etc files
if the date is recent it could be a new transfer-if its 1997-DAMN
