Why is 1984 OOP?

Does anybody know why 1984 is out of print? Is it a rights issue? Were they planning on releasing a new version?

I'm just trying to debate whether or not it's worth taking the eBay plunge or waiting it out for an eventual special edition or Blu-Ray release.
