Paranoid Park: Are there full and widescreen versions? Netflix sent me full screen.
Got this from Netflix today and it's full screen. Is this the intended ratio? (IMDB says it is, although it was released 1.85 theatrically. The DVD Talk review just says 1.85, so there must be a 1.85 DVD right?
Aigh, so annoying. What's the deal?

that seems like a really glaring error. especially when it's reviewed as "a stunning picture presented in anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1." you would think that would be the first thing to notice.

Paranoid Park's aspect ratio conundrum
To sum up, Van Sant and his DPs protected for 1.85:1 -- although it doesn't look to me like they went out of their way to do so -- but Academy AR was certainly the intended ratio. And here's Chris Doyle on the AR.
And yes, the review needs to be corrected. I was all set to slag off IFC left and right until I saw the DVD Beaver review.
