I rarely get more than 4 hours sleep, it's just my cycle. And as far as age is concerned I'm 27.

Beetlejuice scared me more than any movie when I was little. The grotesque nature of it was much too creepy. Especially the scene
Spoiler:
where they summon Baldwin and Davis at the end, and they started to die and decay.
Woof.

My sentiments exactly. I don't think there would be any question about Beetlejuice. When I was a kid there were many parts of the movie that scared me. Some of them still give me the chills thinking about them. This movie is one of my favorites. I wish the Blu-Ray release was a special edition, I won't be upgrading until there is a nice release for this movie.

Wow, have you really never seen Beetlejuice before? If so, I envy you; I'd love to watch that movie for the first time again. You're in for a real treat!

Trevor - What RobCA Drop said about the movie doesn't ruin anything. When Drop said "end of the movie" let's just say it was in the 2nd half of the movie.

Edit: Sorry RobCA!

I'm at 34 now.
Make sure to watch the original movie

I agree, but it wasn't me who said that about the movie.

Haven't seen it since it was first released, and pretty much don't remember anything about it, except for liking it. So yep, looking forward to enjoying it for the first time again. Maybe this month.....

My spoiler comment was as much for others as me, as the comment appeared to be about the ending. But you'll have to forgive me please, I'm sort of a spoiler nazi I guess. I hate to hear anything about a movie that I've never seen, or haven't seen in years. I either have a bad memory or the unique gift to be able to turn off certain memories and be surprised each time I re-watch a movie.

I don't generally mind reading spoilers, but I always try to avoid posting them, for the benefit of others who don't like them. Which is why I wanted to point out that I wasn't the one who posted that particular spoiler.

Whoops - Sorry Rob. I fixed my post. Trevor - I figured you were just making a general point about spoilers.... Just thought I would ease any else's mind if they were really worried about that post.

As far as I'm concerned, Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 3 are a million times better than the original. I just watched the third again last night. So much fun.

A million times better?

I like all three, and could see someone slightly liking one of the sequels more than the original, especially the second. As Pizza said, that freeway scene is amazing.

But why the apparent hate for the original?

Not that it matters, but IMDB ratings are 6.7, 6.4, and 6.0 in order.

Just dragging out this conversation since feedback has been sparse lately.

While I enjoyed all 3 Final Destinations, to me the 1st is still the best. Just the whole original idea. The 2nd I thought the best part was the wreck in the beginning and then it went downhill. 3, I thought picked up a little from the 2nd one. But as I said, all 3 were decent, just in my mind, the 1st was the best.

I think the 3rd one is the best followed by the first one and the 2nd is last on my list.

Gremlins 2

Anyone know why they had the Bugs/Daffy opening in Gremlins 2: The New Batch? It really doesn't make sense why they did that.

I vaguely remember there being a 10 minute cartoon mini-preview thing before Gremlins 2 during the theatrical release. Anyone remember that? For some reason something with Roger Rabbit is coming to mind.

Dante explained the animation at the beginning of the film was meant to "set the anarchic tone."

Dante imagined Gremlins 2 as a satire of Gremlins and sequels in general. Another basic description of Gremlins 2 was that, as Dante said, an hour into the film it becomes "extremely cartoony."

Director (and Looney Tunes fan) Joe Dante had Chuck Jones create an animated opening for his 1990 sequel Gremlins 2 - The New Batch to help set the more comedic tone of the movie.

Storylines considered included sending the gremlins to cities like Las Vegas or even the planet Mars (both concepts were later used in the Leprechaun sequels). After these ideas fell through, the studio returned to Dante, who agreed to make the sequel after receiving the rare promise of having complete creative control over the movie; he also received a budget triple that of the original film's.

Dante would later direct the Looney Tunes film, Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

Wow. Thanks for the info. I probably won't get to the commentary for a while, but it be interesting to hear more about that from Dante. That makes a lot more sense now, but not knowing that, it just seems plain weird and stupid to me. I still think that intro really detracted from the movie, even knowing it's tone and intention.

Brotherhood of the Wolf

Perhaps a question for those more familiar with subtitles. Did anyone notice that some of the spoken words in the film don't have subtitles on them? For example, at the beginning of the movie when the boy says "Le diable," why didn't they put the subtitle for that (the devil)? I just checked the hearing impaired captions and they have "Le diable" still in French. Are they treating that as a proper word or something and leave that kind of stuff in the native language? Obviously I figured it out, but I had to rewind to make sure.

I forgot how amazing this movie was. I almost want to get the 3-disc version now. It's too bad the commentaries don't have any subtitles. It also looks like the 3-disc version has the "international cut" which is 7 minutes longer. I'm assuming that is the director's intended version as the version I have is referred to as the "US Theatrical" version on dvdcompare.net

So I'm watching friday the 13th part 6. One of the true classic scenes involves a girl riding a guy to totally rocking music and her moaning "oh yes, you're the ebst". That's why I love horror films from that time.

I need to watch brotherhood again and the talk of Beatlejuice makes me realize I haven't seen it in FOREVER.

Would you consider the two adam's family films as horror? Haven't seen those in forever either. I swear the kid who played Pugsly was in Dark Ride, at least it looked like an odler version of him (checks imdb)

"You're the ebst" is staple in my love-making vocabulary, isn't it in everyone's?

I actually picked this up on sale for $4, just because it was on sale. I'll definately give it a watch soon. Then follow that with the first two FD's. Thanks for the suggestion.

Once again, I hope the answer is yes, because I already counted them.

They're not horror, but they're certainly horror-related, IMO.
