I hit 116 movies.
When you're watching so many films, it seems like the really good, really bad, and really quirky stuff stands out.

28 Days Later is not nearly as groundbreaking as I thought. I watched it after Return of the Living Dead, Rabid, and the BBC Day of the Triffids.
I watched Triffids in September so it's not on my list.

DVD Talk Gold Edition
Overall, a most enjoyable challenge. Most of my viewings were on the weekend, so I kind of sputtered at the end. There were only 3 days, I think, that I didn't watch a movie. I've already ordered 6 more movies for next year and will have to order quite a few more to stay in the 30-50 range for next year (I can't watch the same movie more than once a year.) How you guys watch over 100 is beyond me.
Best Movies (First Time Viewing)
1. Dawn of the Dead (2004) - LOVE the use of the Johnny Cash song near the end of the movie.
2. The Frighteners - One of Peter Jackson's earlier movies, very well done.
3. Joy Ride - Ok, let's be honest, I'm just putting this up here because of Leelee Sobieski.
Worst Movies
1. Manos: The Hands of Fate - I will NEVER watch the non-MST3K version again. Twice is two times too many.
2. House II: The Second Story - Ugghhh…. There was nothing in common with the first one. Horrible.
3. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare - Horrible pop music and a cheesy 3D sequence.
Imagine My Surprise! (aka "holy sh*t, I actually enjoyed that!")
1. Maniac Cop - This is a very well done low-budget movie. Bruce Campbell is great as always.
2. Wishmaster - Andrew Divoff was excellent as The Wishmaster, not nearly as cheesy as I was expecting.
Biggest Disappointments
1. Day of the Dead - I had high hopes after Dawn of the Dead. The Bub character was almost unbearable.
2. Splinter - I really had no expectations, but was hoping for something more than this.
3. The Shining (Mini-Series) - I love the Kubrick movie too much that I couldn't see the mini-series as a separate entity (I tried.)
4. John Carpenter's The Fog - It was good, but I think I was expecting something much more since it was a Carpenter movie.
"WTF did I just watch?"
1. Scream Bloody Murder (Claw of Terror) - I think the title(s) say it all.
2. Within the Woods - I'm sorry, was there something to watch here?
3. Cemetery Man - Hey, don't get me wrong, I liked this movie, but I'm still not sure what happened.
Better Upon 2nd Viewing:
1. Brotherhood of the Wolf - It was great the first time, and fantastic the second.
2. Videodrome - This is one of those movies that needs to be viewed more than once. I originally watched this before (I think) I had seen any other Cronenberg movies. After watching quite a few of his movies now I really enjoy his style.
Other thoughts:
1. Next year I don't know if I'm going to do ratings or not. I kind of like to look through other peoples lists for ratings, but it's somewhat arbitrary. Edit: After reviewing everyone's lists, I'm going to keep my ratings.
2. I fizzled on the "scare factor" ratings. There wasn't one movie that really really scared me. Maybe next year. I'll admit there were a few movies I couldn't bring myself to watch (American Psycho comes to mind.)
3. The body count/boob stats got a little old after the first week (not to mention it's hard to mark them down with all the lights off.) I also felt myself WAY overthinking those things when I was watching movies..."If I know this person is going to become a zombie, does that count as a dead body?" I think I'll just focus on weird/funny things next year. I still like how Mondo Kane does it, but I don't watch enough movies in one day to do it the same way.
4. I still think commentaries should count for 1/2. I like to listen to commentaries within a reasonable amount of time after I watch a movie and they definitely add to the experience of a movie. I'm going to listen to them regardless, and unless I watch a whole bunch of horror movies in September, none of my commentaries count.
Wildcards I should have watched (d'oh!):
1. Food Network Challenge Pumpkin Carving - I love these food network shows for the challenges. Some great ones for the Holiday Challenge.
2. The X-Files - "Home" - This is a must watch for any horror fan, no matter if you have ever seen an X-Files episode or not. Stands on its own as one of the freakier TV episodes ever.
3. A Millenium episode from season 1 - plenty of horror related episodes in the first season

Where do we nominate who we think did the best format ect?
My list is done. I really am tired of movies and I think I've slept more in the past 3 days than in a single week of october.
Next year I need to come up with a more solid and simple plan. At least my horror films are in one section on my shelf now.

1. Vote for your favorite list. Sometime within the next week please vote in this thread (or PM me) who you feel has the most impressive list. And take into consideration that not everyone will have theirs ready immediately afterward. Once again, we're looking more for quality of formatting and comments/reviews as opposed to the number of titles viewed.
A perfect example of what NOT to look for would be Chad's list - someone who didn't follow through with his intentions and gave up on the reviews after the first week.

Crimeny, I've been trying to put some Horror titles on my wish list for next year. Which version to get for Susperia, Halloween, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre have been driving my head to spin. Obviously, my preference is HD, but I don't want to miss out on any goodies in the special feature category.
Any suggestions are welcome for the titles above. I am more than willing to buy multiple releases to get everything. dvdcompare.net is my friend, but hearing it firsthand will help.

Man, I sucked this year. Work and school abused me like no other. Hopefully next year I'll have more time. Still, as always it was a lot of fun. Any excuse to watch more horror is a good one to me.

10. Mad Monster Party (1969, Theater)
I played the Frankenstein monster for the kiddies at a local movie theater, then took in this classic from Rankin-Bass.
And he watched the Paul Lynde Halloween Special.

My Favorite List: I have to go with Pizza. Dick Laurent comes in a close second, but a lot of people's lists looked great this year, so it really was hard to vote. The images on the lists made things fun. I loved Giles' ghosts! They're so cute! I'd vote for Trevor because his formatting was cool, or for ThatAnymore because I loved his haiku as well, but I think Pizza had the best overall look and formatting.
