What I'm really asking is, are you suggesting it? For now, I'll put it on my wish list on Amazon for next year and hopefully it comes down in price a bit.
By far weird in a good way. When I saw a clip online, I just outright blind-bought it (I bought for a lot less on Amazon Marketplace). And I'm glad I did. The imagery of the film is almost trance-like. And the story is so ridiculous that it has to be experienced to be believed. Not only is there a bed that eats people, but there's also a prior victim that the bed ate who now resides in a prison behind a painting in the same room. He only sits there and watches what happens.

I've seen the movie twice, and will definitely watch it more in the future. But I also think that Rock 'N Roll Nightmare is one of the coolest films ever made...if that gives you an idea of the type of weird films I find entertaining.

Also, for those that get the DVD, don't watch the director intro first. There's spoilers there.

Why don't you sit at the end of your drive way? We don't have a long drive but we still sit outside by the sidewalk and soak up the atmosphere.

Does Freddy's Revenge count as a Revenge title? I'm not sure of what would be considered for that.

Yes.

I'll look thru the lists and get some other examples.
Spoiler:
I have used The Last House on the Left because it hits a few other checklist categories as well. Used Darkman as well.

Spoiling as to not reveal which films are "revenge" titles.

Spoiler:

Other "revenge" examples besides those two are Seed, the first Nightmare on Elm Street, The Alchemist, House of Wax, In a Glass Cage, House on Haunted Hill, Nine Lives, Candyman: Day of the Dead, and Saw 3.

These are just from the first two pages of the list thread.

And now a few more from the other two pages of the list thread.

Spoiler:
All Night Long 2: Atrocity, Dead Silence, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, and The Fog (1980)

Also, the remake of The Fog, Jaws: The Revenge, and I Spit on Your Grave would work.

Can you tell work is slow today?

Yeah, I could take a lawnchair, that aforementioned bowl of candy and bring along my laptop to continue the movie watching. Then again, the little bastards would probably try and egg me. No thanks! Have I mentioned that I don't especially care for kids?

For the first time ever I noticed some major similarities between Fulci's "The Beyond" and Argento's "Suspiria". Apparently the former borrowed a few scenes from the latter ...at least four by my count:

The other 3 that I'm once again too lazy to post screencaps of:

-Dog attack. Both have German Shepherds attacking their blind masters.

-Blind person playing a piano.

-Footsteps are counted.

And possibly more...

Chad, Suspiria talk was reserved for October 4th.

Seriously now, I think I'm still without a Fulci movie in my history. Any recommendations for my first?

Really? You've never seen Zombie? I would suggest starting there. Don't let the "2" attached to some releases fool you, though. That was to capitalize on Romero's Dawn of the Dead, entitled Zombie in Italy. No relation to Romero's other than title and, of course, zombies.

I think The Beyond is widely considered to be Fulci's best film, though it does borrow liberally from Suspiria, particularly with the blind girl/dog bit, probably the most shocking part of Suspiria. Fulci pretty much made the later half of his career ripping off Romero's zombies and Dario Argento's giallos. I'll give him credit where it's due though...nobody does getting stabbed in the eye like Fulci. I think he was the first to add the eye blinking after getting stabbed which sells it much more.

If you like the far-out "gee I just took LSD" nature of "Suspiria" you might enjoy Fulci's "The Beyond," but for my money, "Don't Torture a Duckling," "House by the Cemetery," "City of the Living Dead," and "Zombie" are his best movies. I love those and could watch them over and over again, whereas the only thing I like about "The Beyond" is the gore and the rest of the movie makes me want to stab myself in the face.

Two things we know about edwardnortonfan:

1. Has the urge to punch babies
2. Has the urge to stab herself in the face

What else should we know?

Don't forget she wants to shoot me in the face.

So it's a baby/face thing, and I have been told I have a bit of a baby face....

Seriously though, thanks for the Fulci recommendations everyone. I think I recently ordered The Beyond, but am leaning towards going with edwardnortonfan's first recommendation, Don't Torture a Duckling. Adding to my netflix queue, along with that killer bed movie.

When is the cut-off for editing our posts? If we're going to be allowed to watch until dawn Halloween night, how much time do we have to update our list? Just today I'm behind adding about four movies right now. I'll definately need some time to finalize.

You'll have at least a couple days or even a week into November to finish the list, no rush.

but it's pretty standard for Italian splatter films to feature violence to the face and eyeballs (Fulci most notably)

Thanks... that'll give me time to awaken from my horror-movie induced coma that I expect to be hitting me around 5 AM on November 1st...

More boobs than the "Unrated" version that was originally released?

I think he was referring to the 4+ hour documentary containing the extra boobage.

I don't remember any nudity in Zombie's remake. I always remember nudity, but that film was so damn awful that I refuse to remember any part of it.

I can't believe you don't remember it, Danielle Harris is naked for most of the movie. Some of the people in my theater yelled "Doesn't that b**** ever wear clothes?"

My problem with "The Beyond," as stupid as this sounds, is that it's a bunch of images strewn together with no plot. I know everyone says all of Fulci's movies are like that, but it's not true. The first ones I saw of his were "City of the Living Dead," "Zombie," and "House by the Cemetery," and those might not have the most COHERENT plot in the world, but they're all trying to tell a story that advances as the movie goes on, so when I watched "The Beyond" and it was like a big acid trip and not much else, I was really irritated because of what I expected from my experiences with the other three movies. Some of the images are really cool in "The Beyond" but other than that it doesn't make a lick of sense. That bothered me about "Suspiria" at first too, because my first experience with Argento was "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage" so seeing a movie like "Suspiria" with much more style than plot grated on my nerves. After awhile "Suspiria" grew on me and I enjoy it now, but I still can't get into "The Beyond." I'm pleased that "Don't Torture a Duckling" was another Fulci movie with a discernible story to go with its haunting images.

I moved it to the top of my queue, and the duckling just shipped. Tomorrow may be Fulci day for me!
