Would You Buy This Dvd?
I was going through some of my old VHS tapes this week ,and I discovered some recordings of VH1's Behind the Music. Man, I loved that show! I was so disheartened when VH1 stopped producing shows like this in favor of the crappiest reality tv ever. I can't stand to even turn on VH1 now.
Behind the Music was a documentary show that profiled mostly rock bands. The show would tell their complete biography starting from the early days to the present. The show was well produced, great narration, and it often gave you that fly on the wall look into the lives of rock stars. I did a search on wikipedia, and discovered that this show profiled dozens of musicians and bands. Many that I didn't see. Everyone from Tom Petty to Metallica. Sadly, there is abolutely no way to view these shows now. If VH1 released these shows on dvd, I would buy them in a heartbeat. I think a lot of people are fasinated by the rock star life want want to experience their stories. VH1, bring back the music!!! |
I certainly would.
|
I'm hoping they'll also put out "I Love the 70's and 80's" too. I think it's all got to do with licensing rights, which is why none of their shows is on DVD.
|
I'm pretty sure they did release a handful of Behind the Music's on DVD. I specifically seem to remember Blondie.
|
I would buy a few of those Behind the Music shows.
I'd expect them to release them sometime in the future because they would equal more money. But I have no idea when. |
I am amazed they stopped running it too. I mean, sure, there are only so many bands out there, but it was a pop culture landmark, and a particularly awesome show.
I hate VH1 so much. |
Really? They stopped making BTM?
The last one I remember was Huey Lewis. Man maybe it has been awhile. Anyone remember when VH1 Classic JUST showed videos from the 80s and some from the 70s and 90s? What the hell happened? |

I hate VH1 so much. The very last BTM I saw was the one featuring Pantera. They even showed footage from Dimebag's shooting. |
Storytellers is another good VH1 show that didn't last too long, but had enough solid episodes/performances for a few dvd releases.

We'll never see the "I Love" series on DVD. It was incredibly expensive to produce for TV and the music/movie/TV clearance for DVD would not only be difficult (all the different studios that would be involved) but incredibly expensive.

I would buy a lot of those episodes in a heartbeat.
|
VH1 released DVDs for the Behind the Music of Megadeth, Blondie and Motley Crue. I supposed they didn't release any other because of music rights issues.
|
Shame these are not on youtube either.

I'd buy them.
But I fear that we'll just get more crud released instead. |

Unless they included DVD rights during the original negotiations. It's pretty standard nowadays.
A lot of times the price difference is great enough that the producers will license a song only for broadcast and then worry about the DVDs later. |

I LOVED Behind The Music and would DEFENITLY buy it on DVD if it were ever released! Wouldn't even have to think twice about it..haha
|
They still play it on VH1 Classic -- much better than regular VH1
|
I would watch the show if it was on today. My "BTM" is currently wikipeida.
|
I would buy a couple...
|
Seems like a no-brainer to put these out on dvd. I would pick up at few of them for certain.
|
I still have the BHM: Pantera episode saved to my DVR. I'd love to have a DVD of it, possibly with additional footage included.
