Question about Vertigo re-release

Question,
Vertigo and Rear Window are be re-released as part of the Universal Legacy Series, a review on Amazon states that when first released on DVD It ( Vertigo) came out in letterbox, and is happy it is now being released in Widescreen, "where it can be better appreciated" What is the diference between letterbox and widescreen, How can it now be better appreciated?

The cynic in me says because that's how you sucker people into reading your thread.

Question answered, and now there's spam! How about closing this one?

The guy should have said letterbox and anamorphic. Previous editions of Vertigo were not enhanced for 16x9 TVs, now it is.

Of course the reviewer is also wrong because Vertigo was released in Anamorphic in 2005 as part of a box set.

Well the reviewer is also sort of right, because not everybody wanted to purchase the Hitchcock Masterpiece set, including myself.
