after looking again at the history of ic title dvd im split on getting it

i dont have macho-steamboat or shawn-razor on DVD yet, but i already seen those and some of those matches look ok, but is it really worth getting just for a few matches? what do you guys think

also i recently watched the macho-steamboat match and it was ok but never thought it was that great, was it just ahead of its time or what?, cause it only went about 15 min and i thought it was a normal eddie-benoit match

surprisingly WWEshop has No Mercy for preorder, the cover has Jeff Hardy.

The WCW ppv's will never be released on dvd in box sets. Simply because a side from the diehard true wrestling fans, nobody will buy WCW box sets. WCW is just a distant memory to everyone and in the past 7 years there has been a lot of new fans introduced to wrestling and the WWE. To them, WCW is nothing. Plus does anyone want to watch some of those last few years of WCW ppvs?? Hell even some of the older ones were brutal too. Except for the odd matches on the WCW ppvs, most were just brutal.

As for Steamboat vs Savage, I think they may have cut some of the match and edited it for coliseum video release. I heard it went close to 30 minutes, but maybe that is wrong and the match that we have seen is indeed the full length of the match. But I do agree that it wasn't a great match, it's kind of over hyped. Same as HBK vs Razor from WM 10. I enjoyed their Summer Slam ladder match much more than their Wrestlemania one.

A great Savage vs Steamboat match happened on Best of the WWF Vol. 9 from Mapleleaf Gardens in Toronto, it was pretty sweet and Savage did a blade job too!

The one from WM3 was only 14 minutes but still one the greatest matches ever under 15 minutes. They told an amazing story for that amount time. If it was 30 minutes i'm sure it would have been complete on the Wrestlemania Anthology.

But it will be released in Canada on Oct. 7, according to Kochcan.com and checking out HMV's website, most stores have it in stock.

Any confirmation about this in Canada/HMV?

I can confirm that Canada got the release on the 7th. I picked it up from HMV for 29.99.

Haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Amazon.ca shows IN STOCK for the KOCH version and PREORDER for the US version.

One thing i don't get is theres no difference between the two, the digipack spine reads WWE94677, and on the shrinkwrap it had the DISC MADE IN MEXICO in blue on the back.

KOCH version WWE DVDs start off with KOC - DV - 9*** on the spine and say MADE IN CANADA on the bottom in fine print.

I think if someone could convince Vince that WCW stuff would sell, then they might give it a shot. A Best Of Starrcade dvd will most likely test the waters. If you want to see more WCW released on dvd, then go out and buy that as soon as it hits the shelves.

chuckliddell 10-09-08 12:10 PM

well i do agree that wcw was crap in the last few years, but during 96-98 they were really great and were better than raw

i doubt vince will ever release any nitro stuff that makes nitro look great during there best years, but seeing how the starcade dvd is coming out and if it does sell well i think maybe down the road a best of wargames or best of wcw ppv or something along that might happen, maybe no documentry but just ppv matches

i always wanted to have some of those great matches and moments from wcw 96-98 on dvd such as wargames

anyone remember fall brawl 96 and 97 those ppvs were awesome nwo-wcw wars

lastofthewild1s 10-09-08 12:25 PM

I always thought Raw in 97' was better than Nitro. WCW started getting ridiculous when they added new members to the nWo every week.

chuckliddell 10-09-08 02:36 PM

the rise and fall of ecw sold awesome and ecw was dead a long time, i think most fans of that 90s era loved all three brands, and lots would go and buy the starcade dvd

i hope they include not just the best matches but cover all the years or most of them anways, i remember hearing the vader-flair match was awesome from starcade

jammer311 10-09-08 03:26 PM

The ECW dvds are different though. I think everyone loved ECW one way or another. Because it was an alternative to what WWE and WCW was showing us.

I pretty much have all the WCW ppvs or supercards from 83 - 94 and I can honestly say when skimming through those ppvs I hit next constantly. Terry Taylor vs Bill Irwin?? JW Storm vs Brad Armstrong?? The Freebirds vs The Renegade Warriors?? Those were some horrible matches from Halloween Havoc 90.

Yet The Nasty Boys vs The Steiners is still talked about to this day. I have a feeling that all we are gonna get in time is just a triple disc set of certain WCW ppvs.

My guess is it will be (besides Starrcade)

Great American Bash
Halloween Havoc
Super Brawl
and the Clash Of The Champions shows

Anything else we won't get unless a certain match is on a certain dvd of a certain wrestler. I can't see Vince putting out box sets and complete anthology of WCW ppvs. Hell, there isn't even a King Of The Ring 10 disc set or a Survivor Series 20 year set. So you "diehard" WCW fans, I wouldn't hold your breath on getting releases of WCW dvds.

BretFan1 10-09-08 09:25 PM

The only year Nitro was better than Raw, consistenly for the whole year, i'd say was 1996. 1997 RAWs were awesome, that's when the Attitude Era got started. In my opinion anyway. I suppose 1997 could be debated. However, 1998 was not even close. WWF blew away WCW that year and that's when they started pulling away in the ratings.

sg2386 10-10-08 02:17 PM

the extras for No Mercy are:

- Champion of Champions Triple Threat Match
Triple H vs. Matt Hardy vs. Chris Jericho
SmackDown All-Star Kickoff October 3, 2008

- Eve Torres interviews The Big Show

glad they included the champions of champions match, since it was really enjoyable.

Viper187 10-11-08 01:05 PM

Anyone have a list of the exact content in Austin vs McMahon? I'm trying to decide whether it's really worth the obscene prices people are asking.

xage 10-11-08 06:44 PM

Very few FYE/T.W.E.C. stores will stock this limited edition boxsets

I saw the sets and the dimension of the box is similar to the Ghostrider Boxset (w/ bust).

However the 1st sad part is that the bust size closely resembles the size of the Iron Man Bestbuy bust.

Now for the 2nd sad part (especially to those who didnt preorder) - The MSRP cost is at $84.99

You know, considering that new information and the fact there would be no extra content in the collector's edition, I'm skipping the FYE release. That's lame...a bust is honestly not as cool compared to extra footage, actual pieces of ring mats, film cells or autographs.

I guess it's Circuit City for me.

lastofthewild1s 10-11-08 10:59 PM

These busts look pretty cool and if they were reasonably priced, I'd get one. But for that money, they should at least throw in an exclusive bonus disc. For that reason, I'll just stick with the standard edition. I buy more for content of the dvd's than anything else. The only exception would be the tins that FYE has, but then those aren't going for 70-80 bucks either.

Wildcard 10-12-08 04:43 PM

How's the Knocked Out DVD? I saw it at Fry's for $9.99, but I decided to pass on it for now.

I also saw the 2-disc Ultimate Matches DVD for $14.99 on Friday. Very surprised to see it put out that early.

Where in Toronto did you find the Ultimate Matches DVD?? I just ordered it from ROHwrestling.com few days ago with 25% off, total came to about $20 with shipping and discount.

BravesMG 10-13-08 12:48 AM

I picked up Unforgiven this week and I'll be damned, this was a really, really good PPV. All of the scramble matches were fun and the Michaels/Jericho unsanctioned match was a freaking war. There were a couple of other clunkers, but top to bottom, this was much better than I was expecting and one of my favorite WWE PPVs of the year.

DiedLaughing 10-13-08 08:39 AM

The Hell in the Cell w/ bust will be on sale for $49.99

Just as long as it has the Xpac/Kane Cage Match, I'll be happy.

chuckliddell 10-13-08 11:30 AM

anyone else think eddies dvd might be the best of the year, top to bottom it looks great, with ecw, wwe, wcw all there with classic matches

my only problems with it are no benoit and i wish they would of put his match with angle from mania 20 instead of his title win over lesnar since its already on his other dvd, but next to that it looks awesome

with this along with cheating death stealing life its just about as much as a eddie fan can hope for

sg2386 10-13-08 11:58 AM

according to the KOCH website, the Best of Starrcade 3 disc set will be released in Canada January 13. Not sure if this is the new date.

I read they postponed it so maybe they delayed couple of months.
