Is MGM 'Fabulous Baker Boys' Anamorphic?

Can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere.... any assist would be appreciated!

I don't believe that it is anamorphic, I think it is just letterboxed.

Can someone who owns this disc weigh in? The packaging merely says "widescreen" but several reviews suggest it is indeed enhanced for 16x9.

You should search on home theater forum. I remember reading on there that it wasn't.

YES - it definitely is. I bought it on release day, and I assure you it is 16x9 with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Michelle Pfeiffer is one of my all-time favorites, and I was patiently waiting for this movie to get a technically proper release. Don't understand why they didn't upgrade the audio to 5.1 though...

As a side note, you might want to keep the original Full Screen release too in case you watch the movie on a standard television - it is a Matted Letterbox picture. Which means the 1.33:1 aspect ratio has the black bars placed right on top of the negative to achieve the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. So from that perspective, you are actually losing some of the picture on the top and bottom.
