Tag: The Assassination Game?
What's the deal with this getting a DVD release? I've heard that there are licensing complications due to the original production company's demise. Anyone know the story behind that? I haven't seen this film since I was a kid and am dying to. Even used VHS copies are going for $30 plus. At this point I'd settle for a Hong Kong "All Region" DVD just to watch it again. It never gets played on cable anymore either...

It is a Corman New World title, so it is currently owned by Disney.

When that was delayed they ended up doing "Tag" in the mean time with Robert Carradine and Linda Hamilton. While not doing great in the US it did better overseas and on cable. I read the script for "Tag" but never actually saw the movie so I would be intersted also. Next they did a cheap horror flick that again mainly played in Europe. I got some free tickets to see it opening week when I was in college in NC (there were like 8 of us in the whole theater). After that I believe everything fell apart. Not that you wanted the history lesson, but I would be interested in seeing and having a copy on DVD from a nostalgia point of few. |
I'd like to put in a vote for this, also. I remember watching this eons ago on Cinemax or HBO. I'm a Linda Hamilton fan so I'd like to add this one to the collection.

I might have to break down and buy it on VHS. I can't believe I'm actually considering buying a VHS tape...and for $30 no less. I had to do the same thing with Summer Camp Nightmare and Prime Risk, two other forgotten 80's gems that I just ordered. Those didn't cost much more than a rental, however. Somehow I just know if I drop $30 on it, within a few months they'll either announce the release of the DVD or it will run on cable suddenly. Geez, I haven't even used my VCR in close to 5 years.

There are probably 2 old films I want more than anything. TAG: The Assassination Game, and the Marc Singer film I You Could See What I Hear. Consider my vote cast! :D |
Definitely in for this if it was ever released. I own a used VHS copy and like others mentioned here must have seen this a few dozen times on cable growing up.

These old 80's classics seem to trickle out on DVD at a rate of one or two a year. Last year we got Zapped, so who knows, maybe this year we'll get Tag. There's a bunch of comedies I'm still waiting on too.

Aww, I remember this one. I wouldn't mind revisiting it if it came out, at least through a Netflix rental.
