Wow, I can't believe this is being released. I loved watching The Little Rascala as a kid and it's been 30 years since i've seen them. This is a must buy.

I'm hoping to have my review posted by the end of the weekend, but my early verdict is it's an impressive package. There is a lack of subtitles though, which hurts, as much dialogue is hard to understand.

To those who have a copy of this new DVD set, please check the title cards to see if any of them are NOT the originals. Someone at thelittlerascals.net said that several episodes are the Blackhawk Films prints.

Well that sure stinks they are using Blackhawk prints on a number of films!

I have all 4 laserdisc volumes which have the MGM opening titles and, with this new DVD set, it makes no sense they are using Blackhawk prints on a number of films.

I was going to buy this DVD set but since its clear they are not using the original prints that were used for the laserdisc sets, I will pass on it. And also, the picture quality on the laserdiscs are super! Even have the rare MGM 3 laserdisc box set and of which has super looking prints.

How about the three silent films on the set? Do they have original or Blackhawk opening titles? How is the quality on these 3 films? Thanks for the info.

How can Genius Products get away with the "Remastered * Restored * Uncut" claim on the cover of the set if it's not true? False advertising in my opinion and Genius should be held accountable!

Someone care to explain the "Blackhawk's prints" for those of us not educated on every piece of Little Rascals history?

Blackhawk Films was a home movie distributor that released many Rascals shorts in the 1970s on 16mm, and then beta and VHS in the 80s. They replaced all the title cards to look like what's in those screen captures from the new DVDs that have been circulating online since last night. The prints looked good during the 70s and 80s, but today, preservation and restoring TV shows, movies, and theatrical shorts is popular now that we have high quality format (DVD, blu-ray, etc).

What RHI/Genius failed to do was use all the restored 35mm prints for the set.

Don't completely forget about the set. It's possible they'll release a corrected one. Lets just wait and see.

Mine's going back to Amazon unopened - they haven't shipped but it's too late to cancel. (I still have the laserdiscs)

If you've never seen this thing called a laserdisc player, is this set still worth getting?

As an avid collector, I'm getting the set anyway. I'm hoping Genius will fix the mistake and send us new discs if we call or email. I think this is all a human error and unintentional.

I added a pretty obvious note to the top of my review indicating the issue. To me, it doesn't change my view of the set, as I had already taken the condition of the prints into consideration before knowing why they looked the way they did.

Yeah, I'm not bailing on the set either. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and hoping for the best. Heck, having not seen the shorts in many, many years the issue may not be that noticable to me. But I'll be e-mailing Genius since they obviously won't fix the issue unless fans give them feedback.
