A "Make Your Own Movie Challenge/Marathon" Thread?

I did a search, but didn't find anything on this so if it exists already, please accept my apologies.

We're over halfway into the Sci-Fi Challenge and it got me thinking of the numerous movie marathons I've done over the years and would like to do.

Anybody like this idea?

If you plan to have a "Jason Voorhees Marathon" next Friday the 13th, here would be the place to list it. Gonna watch a bunch of "Terminator" movies before "Terminator Salvation" comes out... tell us about it here.

You could make your own rules too. You can add the "Sarah Connor Chronicles" if you'd like... or not. It's YOUR challenge.
of course, we'd still have the big challenges. This would be the place for the content that don't fit into those.

Your opinions?

I could see it being successful if the first post was updated with the challenges, descriptions, like rules and duration, and links to the post in this thread so it would be easy to keep track of what's going on.

I think it would be easy to miss a new challenge that gets posted in the middle of a bunch of posts dealing with an existing challenge.

What would work great with something like a Friday the 13th challenge is when netflix and the xbox thing gets set up so we could have group viewings with the live chat.

I've also been considering starting an April Animation Challenge for next year that'll run off the Holiday Challenge rules where you can watch what you want as long as it's animation. Running times don't matter.

I would do this because I have a ton of foreign and silent films I haven't gotten around to watching on DVD (due to the inability to multitask while watching).

I made a vague attempt at a Noir challenge once, but there appeared to be little interest.

That's the thing... it's not really a "challenge"... more of a Make Your Own Marathon... just a place to say, "hey, look what I did this weekend." And some of us could go "Oh, that's a cool idea, maybe I'll do that too." Something like that.

There would be no prizes or final tally or anything like that.

OK, enough with the "look what I did this weekend" topics. They rarely have anything to do with DVD's themselves. I'd rather see them moved to the movie forum or put in their own forum.

How about a challenge where you get about 15-20 people to sign up. The first person selects a film that is not OOP and could be picked up from Blockbuster or Netflix with relative ease, and everyone in the group watches that film. Then the next person selects a film .. sort of like "Oprah's Book Club"

Rule #1: Do not talk about "The 'Make Your Own Movie Challenge/Marathon' Thread"

Rule #2: DO NOT TALK ABOUT "The 'Make Your Own Movie Challenge/Marathon" Thread"

(Sorry, couldn't help myself...)

I do like the idea of a thread where a movie is selected, then another is added to it. I think it would be interesting to have to connect each movie somehow actor, director, writer, etc. after the title.

1. V for Vendetta
2. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (Natalie Portman)
3. The Long Way Round (Ewan McGregor)
..
n. Seven Samurai (how'd we get here!)
