Russian DVD
Hey all, i have just returned from a trip to Russia and bought a few DVDs in a shop there that said they had English language options. However, there is no other language options on some of the DVDs, instead the Russian voice has been put over the English. I didnt know if there was any way to remove the Russian voice over, as you can still hear the english? Thanks in advance :)

If both voices are part of the same language track - and there's no other language track on the DVD - you're S.O.L.

hereistheguy,
You got screwed. Russian dvd bootlegs are very professional looking. Even if the movie is in English, there usually won't be English audio/subtitles even if it says so on the DVD back cover. Next time you go to Russia, always ask them to show you the DVD on their TV (if they have one). They will test it for you. |
ahhhh oh well! Thanks for your help! It doesnt matter, its more for my mum, im studying Russian so its quite interesting for me!! :P

Many of the Ruscico releases do English voiceover. The menu logic is not very intuitive: to get Russian audio, you first have to choose "English" on the very top menu, then you will see the audio options where you can choose other languages. I think of the first choice as the "menu language", then all of the usual submenus (audio, subtitles, etc) will be in that language. Possibly your discs follow that logic?

Ruscico is an official Russian dvd company.
