The spine is also just a horizontal reflection of the left side of the front artwork. And no spine text? fake-o

Those look really cool, but I'd like to see the "Why so serious?" poster with the Joker behind glass as the cover.

OldBoy 08-20-08 05:07 PM

it's all already confirmed. unfortunately they are all exclusive to this one place in the Czech Republic...

Generally in the past, the cost of shipping from Czech Republic to the US is about $30-$40USD starting, depending on the item.

TWEC stores in US are already taking preorders for their exclusive SteelBook as well.

I was just going to mention that I found a steelbook sku in the system today.

I hope they use the movie poster artwork with Batman and the burning building in the background as the artwork for the 2 disc special edition.

I remember Batman was still playing in theaters when it came out on VHS.

In one of the many interviews they did, they both mention a wish to have the score isolated in 5.1 on the Blu-ray release.

chris_sc77 08-25-08 10:56 AM

I've already abandoned all hope of a commentary track on the DVD.
Hopefully whatever features we get it will be better than what was on the Batman Begins 2-disk.

I had to laugh too..

Warner's half attempt to be consistent on lossless audio IS a joke.

Yeah, I know it's a laugh. I just think TDK's got a phenomenal soundtrack and I think if the WB decides to grow a pair and start using DTS again, TDK would be the prime candidate.

Trailers

TV Spots

Stay tuned to IGN DVD for everything Dark Knight. Even the Dark Knight himself would be impressed.

canaryfarmer 09-22-08 04:16 PM

That would be "Gotham Tonight", and I'm glad they're including all of them.

GoldenJCJ 09-22-08 04:26 PM

The History Channel played both "Batman Unmasked" and "Batman Technology" a month or two ago. They were both very good (especially "unmasked"). I'm glad they're both being included.

 for TrueHD

gryffinmaster 09-22-08 06:37 PM

... aaaaand THAT's how you do a Blu-ray release, WB -- packed to the gills with supplements and sporting a lossless audio track. Thank you!

RickWJ324 09-23-08 03:20 PM

I pre-ordered the Dark Knight Steelbook at FYE last week. Can't wait to see this movie again!! :)

jmj713 09-23-08 03:57 PM

Hopefully the same extras for the DVD.

If this release has multiple store exclusives, will it become the best selling DVD of all time?

I actually didn't care for Batman Unmasked, as it seemed awfully plain and basic when I watched it before Dark Knight came out. It would have been nicer to get some more deeper stuff, but maybe that's just me :p

Prolly.

If there's enough idiots like me to buy all of them, including those in other countries, probably.

islandclaws 09-24-08 01:33 PM

Anyone else a little underwhelmed by the presumed features? I'm worried about this disc for a couple of reasons. One is that WB is notorious for giving SD buyers a shitty transfer, most likely to get us to upgrade to Blu. Secondly, those features sound like they could fit on one disc. I was expecting quite a lot more for the #2 biggest film of all-time. This reeks of double dip.

it's inevitable, but Warner's needs a quick kick to the nuts if they do.

I am underwhelmed as well. Of course I was expecting to be since I found the special features for Batman Begins (2-disk DE) to be very underwhelming.
$500+ million in the US alone and we still cant get a freakin' commentary on a new release. Those bastards.

fumanstan 09-24-08 03:48 PM

The documentaries, at least for Batman Unmasked that I know of, were hour long specials so they're not exactly short worthless clips or anything so i'd hardly say they would fit on a single disc.

Kory 09-24-08 04:00 PM

That announcement says "a few special features have been announced." That definitely leaves the possibility that those aren't the only ones.

islandclaws 09-24-08 04:31 PM

I hope you're right. I was expecting some more bonus material focusing on Heath Ledger and his interpretation of the Joker. I suppose I should wait to say anything at all until after the official specs are announced, though.

Yeah, especially when the movie itself is 2 and a half hours.

Artwork now available at The Digital Bits and DVDActive for the R1 single-disc DVD, 2-disc Special Edition, Blu-ray, and Blu-ray Limited Edition.

Definitely getting the 2-disc, but would have preferred more iconic imagery for the slip cover. Just a minor quibble, though. Going to be amazing to finally add this to my collection. Really hope the extras are worthy of the scope of the movie.

--THX

chris_sc77 09-27-08 03:57 PM

This does look like a disappointing release. Oh well. Still I'll be in for the 2-disk of course considering the movie was great.

tylergfoster 09-27-08 03:58 PM

I really doubt Christopher Nolan wasn't asked to do a commentary. If he opted out, then he opted out. Not every director wants to do them.

kefrank 09-27-08 04:24 PM

i'm surprised that people are disappointed with the announced features. is it just the lack of commentary? to me, this looks pretty packed.

islandclaws 09-27-08 04:49 PM

^ I would have liked some more in-depth features on Ledger as The Joker. I just think it's fairly obvious this will be double dipped. The features don't add up for a film of this size.

Matthew Ackerly 09-27-08 07:07 PM

Where are the deleted scenes?

Wasn't Nolan's first cut over 3 hours?
