Batman The Movie, New Edition?

I saw the New release of Batman: the Movie (the one from 1966) and was wondering if it is different from the 2001 release. The bonus features listed are: audio commentary by Adam West & Burt Ward, tour of the Batmobile, Batman featurette, still gallery, theatrical trailer & teaser. If they re-released the DVD with less features and did not add anything new...well my only reaction would be Holy Rip-Off Batman.

I saw that, but it only had specs for the Blu-Ray. I actually thought it was Blu-Ray only after going to Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and Wal-Mart and only seeing it in Blu. Then I found it at FYE, strange nowhere else had it available. Now I just need to figure out if it is just a repackage or has some new features.

From looking at the features on both, they are exactly the same. Looks like just a repackage to tie in with the new movie - with either better, or worse artwork (your choice), and a slight raise in price. The new one was listed at $9.99, while the first is $5.00 to $7.99, depending on where you buy it.

Glad I didn't fall for this shameless double dip. I read the customer reviews of the new one at Amazon (only 2 of them) & it is exactly the same as the original (only difference is the artwork on the case & disc). Even at it's cheap price with not one single added feature (or even movie cash) this release was totally unnecessary. They should've just rereleased it as the original with the same art. Just take it out of the vault (well, that's just Disney but you get the idea).

I love how the new artwork and ad campaign try to make this look like a serious movie a la The Dark Knight.

Is that still going to happen? I've not seen it listed anywhere.

Also in the other thread, it was brought up that the framing was wrong on the other version and you can't read the UN nameplates, they've been matted over. Has this been corrected? I heard they opened the frame up at the bottom a bit, but haven't gotten confirmation about the nameplates.

After seen there was a new commentary on the Blu-Ray then seeing the same cover art for the DVD I thought they might have added come of the new features. Good thing I didn't buy this one, and I like the old cover art better...the new one is too serious. Plus it doesn't say Holy Special Edition Batman.

Here's a video quality comparison between the new SD and BR releases. Not much of a difference!

So when are they putting the 1966-8 TV show on DVD? (I'll definitely want to rent it.)

As soon as Fox and Warner Bros can work together or DC comics decides it doesn't want this version buried (depending on which rumor you believe).
