Will Farscape season 1 ever be available again?
It seems like right when i had decided to get this show the season 1 starburst sets went out of print. How is it that the rights to season 1 were the only ones lost. Hopefully one day they'll release a complete series set.

From what I've heard, the rights for season 1 were up before any of the other seasons. Apparently, ADV fell asleep and didn't renegotiate them. Once they were available, Sony snapped them up. That's why they are no longer in print. ADV can't make them anymore.

Because season 1 is OOP in R1, I ended up getting the R2 Farscape : The Ultimate Complete Collection. It contains all four seasons plus the Peacekeeper Wars.
I bought it completely sight unseen. My girlfriend and I are five episodes or so into season 2 and really enjoying it.

If Sony does have the rights, then they're probably holding off on any release until they can the get the rights to the other three seasons.
Otherwise, they run the risk of releasing season one, then having people who pick it up buy the rest of the series from ADV. It would make more business sense for them to sit on season one until they own the other three seasons.

I was missing one set from Season 1 so I just sold everything I had on eBay.
I'm still waiting for Sony to annoucne something...it's insane to me that such a huge series is not readily available for purchase. It's like not being able to buy Star Trek or the X-Files!
