Something i keep noticing is that very few people have Movie posters for Foreign or Independent Films. I keep seeing Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Dark Knight, Friday the 13th. I want to see a a "Pan's Labyrinth" or "Summer, Fall, Winter ... and Spring" poster!!!

Nah I'm just messing I love seeing these collections there are some amazing selections here. Its nice to know I'm not alone in my DVD collecting obsession.

The low shelf looks odd in the middle of the room; maybe because it's not black yet. I would have put 2 billy's back to back. Why the need for more shelf space? It looks like you still have a lot of empty shelves.

Are you sure you don't loan any out? It's starting to look like a mini-video store there, haha.

I don't feel that have I have all that much empty space left. It will be full about 6 months. It's sad that to most people the empty space would be considered a lot but to me I'm already thinking about needing more shelves. I have a problem. LOL! Also, I built the new shelves with taller spaced shelves to accommodate the taller "Disney style" VHS cases. And you can't see it in the pictures but the new shelves are actually two shelves back to back. So there is an entire empty side yet just waiting to be filled. It will be all good once I paint them black. But the picture does make everything look kinda weird. It looks much better in person.

Nice collection dkedvd!

I do agree with everyone else though, the shelf in the middle of the room makes it looks like the old video stores I used to frequent as a kid :)

Agreed, you should get some old early 90s straight to video posters and put them up!

Is it sad that I think it is awesome that people think my "library" (as I call it) looks like a rental store?

Well, it's better than what people would call my "library". They would call it a warehouse....
Especially since I don't have enough shelf space so one of my closets is just filled with DVDs....

NICE!
I dread the day I run out of space. Within a few years it will happen. Just this year alone I filled two of those tall shelves. But who knows... Maybe by the time I get to that point we will be screaming and the collecting of cinematic media will be dead. Hmm... I rather run out of space then have that happen.

Holy shit! 3000 movies isn't enough, you continue to buy! I'm more selective in what I buy, even if it is only $3 (or less sometimes), I won't get it unless I liked it at least once in the past.

I hope dkedvd's "library" doesn't look that blah...

HAHAHA! Everyone would come to rent and find the doors locked with me sitting on the couch watching a movie.

I do not buy just to buy. I only buy titles I know I like or that I'm 90% sure that I'm going to like. And if I buy something that I end up not liking it ends up at the pawn shop. So my entire collection is all titles that I like. :)

So basically, you like everything. I'm getting the feeling that every movie you saw this year was the best movie of the year. :)

Word of advice, don't try drugs. You'll love them all.

Ha, no. I saw plenty of movies this year and past years that I have not liked and got rid of. Some people are super picky and others are more open. I used to be very picky when starting out, but over the past 10 years of collecting I have really gotten into films. The more I get into them the more I can really understand a film. I've re-watched films I said I didn't like 10 years ago and now it's like watching a whole new movie. Sometime I can't for the life of me see what I ever disliked about them. But don't get me wrong. That's only about 50% of the time. The other 50% I still hate the second time around. LOL. Now... Is every film I own a classic or the best movie ever made? No! Certainly not. But has ever movie I own brought me enjoyment? Yes, thus why they are in my collection. That is how I collect. If I watch something and at the end think "that was a good movie" then it is a keeper. It's all about personal tastes... Some just have more. :D
