Or if Jack was just a hair cheaper and came with the Blu-ray version, but I cannot shell out money for both.

That really is cool, but $180? That's soooo much, I really want it though!

I was checking on this over on Amazon and there's a note saying it's been "discontinued by the manufacturer"

I seriously hope it's not discontinued. I have one on order for in store pickup at Best Buy, and i'm going to be very bummed if that's true.

Amazon or any other retailer won't be getting any shipments after the initial run so it is discontinued. The disclaimer is there to inform potential buyers they're SOL.

Ah, gotcha. So looks like Amazon is out but Best Buy still has some in stock.

so who is getting the 'Jack Bust' set? and why is only 2-discs pictured if this is supposed to be 3 with that digi copy included? and does anyone know if this is merely made of plastic? i thought with the price tag it might be made of at least ceramic or something nice like that.

I wish I could get the Jack Bust but I can't afford it. I'll be picking up the Blu-Ray tomorrow. I'm really excited.

I would buy that bust if there was a Blu-Ray version available. I don't think it's worth another $35 on top of the $120 however.

Oh well, looks like just the boring old BR for me...

Today the Borders I work at got our shipments of Jack Busts to sell for tomorrow's 8/26 street date.

We only got in 4 (one of which had a broken head/split in half), but I'm not sure how many other retailers will be getting.

I really want that bust, but in reality it would just be another dust collecting nuisance on my shelf in a few weeks after the excitement wears off. I'll be more than happy with the Blu-ray.

Wow, that does look cool.

Too bad the new dvd doesn't have Selick's "Slow Bob" short (like the original laserdisc), but that was probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Just got one today at BestBuy ($119.99 special). The bust is pretty big. Couldn't check out the talking since I didn't have THREE aaa batteries. Haven't watched it yet (I've literally just walked into my apartment), but the packaging is very cool. Third disc (useless digital copy) comes in its own paper sleeve. Oh, and for people who are like me and can't figure it out - the beard attaches to the hat.

Saw two of these at the local Best Buy. This bust seems to be similar in size to the Planet of the Apes head and the box that houses it is really big.

Considering the price is $119.99, I could purchase 5-8 mainstream dvd's to be released over the next couple of months so I'll have to pass...

Really impressed with this bust. Seems to be very high quality and durable. I'm gonna keep it in the box for now though. The Best Buy I went to only had three in stock, and the Target nearby had only one. Unfortunately, the outer-box I have, the coffin shaped one, is a little dinged up. All of 'em seemed to be that way though, and i saw one of 'em that looked to have a little piece of Jack's tie rather dinged up. Either way, I don't care as much about the box, so long as the bust itself is mint, which it is.

Also, glad to see that there are three discs, rather than two; I initially thought it was a two disc, with the second disc being the digital copy, so was pleasantly surprised when I found three discs instead of two. I wanna try out the voice part (which I didn't know it had), but don't have batteries, oh well.

This will look good nice to my Planet of the Apes Bust.

Picked one up too. I'm not going to open it just yet in hopes that I can sell this item later. I wonder how much this item is going for already?

well, i had one...

got it from BB. couldn't believe how big and bulky this thing was. it looked real nice inside the enormous box though, real nice. the bag barely even fit it.

i was driving away and just thought where i was going to put this and how easily it would be prone to mis-handling in some way bc it seems so very fragile. i have my dvd's on a nice shelf in a closet right now and it would just take up the rest of the empty space.

even though i take care of things real well i could tell this would be one that if taken out of box would have to be handled with extreme caution. i couldn't fathom keeping it in the box as "what would be the point" with such a nice collectible. i don't have desires to re-sell and deal with the hassle. this thing is just girthy and for the price i just thought i could use it more wisely.

so i quickly drove back and returned without incident and you know what...i feel pretty damn good about it!

went to Target and got the regular 2 + 1 disc version (the regular is a very nice set even with the box with 3D outline of Jack) and Heroes (S2) for $24.99 each (and i didn't even get the white cover SE since it really didn't fit in with S1 and could care less about a sketchbook and 30min extra which i am prone to do).

i think something changed in me today with buying these things more wisely and not always going for the biggest and best. it feels different, it feels good.

all in all i am really glad i didn't get it, but kudos to the ones that did, take care of it and it will take care of you.

I admire you scott. I wanted to not get it because it was so expensive, but I couldn't control myself. My hat is off to you for having the willpower to take it back and return it.

^ I saw one at Target and was really tempted to buy it but I think the thing is almost TOO big. I have a few figures here and there on my DVD shelf but I have no idea where I'd put this thing. It's too big to fit on my DVD shelf which means it would have either been placed in the living room next to the TV or in a closet somewhere. Since I'm trying to keep clutter down anyway I passed and just picked up the Blu-ray. But darn-it-all if it wasn't a nice looking bust!

Edit: for those who did buy it, how limited is it? Is it numbered?
