"Here we go again"- THE BIG LEBOWSKI: 10th Anniversary Edition (9-9-08)

From DVDactive.com:

"SRP: $19.98

Further Details:
Universal Home Video has announced a 10th Anniversary edition of The Big Lebowski which stars Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi. The disc will be available to own from the 9th September, and should retail at around $19.98. The film itself will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. We have no word on extra material for this one yet, but we'll bring you further details as we get them. A Limited Edition release will also be available for $34.98 in special bowling ball packaging. Stay tuned for the official package artwork."

Wonder if we will get worthwhile features on this go-round.

I already have an earlier release, but I'll probably pick this up anyway.

It's possible that it could be an error on Universal's part, but they list the aspect ratio as 2:35 when the OAR is 1:85. Unless it is a mistake I'd recommend anyone wanting to pick this movie up get the last release.

I have mild hopes. The features on the new Hughes stuff isn't awful. Perhaps they coerced Bridges, Goodman and Buscemi for a commentary. That alone would make it worth it.

This movie does deserve a fully-loaded edition, so if this one has everything I could want I'll double dip on it.

DVD empire lists the LE release of this as a 2-disk set so that at least is very good to know/.

Jesus, I love this movie and all, but how many times is Universal going to rerelease it?

Then again, knowing me, if it is a decent SE (unlike the last release), I will probably double dip.

I've been thinking about picking up the last edition. I'm hoping this one's worth it. The CE was rather pitiful as far as bonus content went.

I didn't watch MY FRIENDS die face-down in the mud so I could get a true special edition of The Big Lebowski!

I'm just sittin' here, enjoyin' mah coffeh...

And where is Raising Arizona in 16:9, let alone on Blu-ray? This, The Abyss and True Lies are never getting upgraded at this rate.

I already own it three times.

On DVD (the original Polygram release), DVD Part Deux (Universal's so-called 'Collector's Edition' from 2005), and Universal's 2006 HD DVD.

They better get it right this time. A commentary with Bridges, Goodman, and Buscemi is a must. In fact, there should be two tracks - one as themselves and the other in-character as The Dude, Walter, and Donny. No excuses Universal.

They don't always announce them this early, so it's possible we'll get it. Hopefully it will be a new transfer, because the HD DVD has some had edge enhancement.

Hopefully they have enough brains in their skulls to include, as an additional soundtrack, the famous Comedy Central edit.

Do it right this time, please. This is one of a rare group of films that deserves another pass at DVD, because all other releases have been so miserly with the special features.

Scrape the barrel, give us every little bit of whatever that is lying around and I'll pay the $35. And so will lots of other fans.

Wait and see. I still regularly spin up my copy of the original dvd release. Saw no need to "upgrade" to the "special" edition. If this has some decent extras I might bite. But I will wait and see.
