picked it up today.
dissapointed in the packaging. its 6 discs crammed into one keepcase, with all the dvd's overlaying each other in flipper trays. granted not as bad as the brisco county dvd set, but still.....
watched the first episode. pq is decent, but the audio seems to be at a low volume, tho it is clear.

on a brighter note, got this along with "mother of tears" at best buy. ordered online for instore pickuo. went to store about an hour after getting my email confirmation. my TWO items were nowhere to be found at the customer service desk so BOOM! $10 credit ! (there 1 minute guarantee for having your order ready within one minute of them entering your order number and stuff)

Sounds like the same thing as the Pink Panther set that was released a few years ago.
Still waiting for mine. I'm hoping it will come in tomorrow.

Here are a couple of pictures of the interior of the packaging.

I was very worried about the picture quality of the set because the pilot looked awful. The second episode looked considerably better. I have not watched the remaining episodes yet.

I'm pleased with the release. I love how they have the launch promos.

You might have to give it some time. That's a lot of episodes to go through.

Well I did get my copy a few days ago and I must tell you i'm really disapointed with the transfer. It's really bad. While I was watching this disc I kept telling myself to stay with it because my initial reaction was to take it out of the player. If I hadn't of seen this show when it was first aired and liked it I never would of bought it now. That's how bad I think the transfer is. But since I always liked this show I will stay with it. But it takes a lot of the luster off of this purchase.

Well I think I should take back some of my statements on the transfer. Disc 1, The pilot episode and the episode of Cupids Arrow look terrible. The Cupids Arrow episode was so bad looking that I did take it out of the player before it was over. But I also put in disc 5 the Pirate episode and that looked pretty good. So maybe there are episodes that look good and others that are horrible looking. I may have jumped the gun in stating that all episodes looked terrible. Disc 5 looks pretty good. I haven't checked out the other discs yet.

Can anybody speak to the quality Vs the boots that were floating around? Thinking about picking this up.

I've never seen the boots, but this official release has to be at least slightly better as these are the complete unedited episodes, not cut copies taken off tv broadcasts. That said, I perused a few of these episodes on the new release and they look pretty bad, worse than how they looked on original broadcast. Dark and blotchy. Still watcheable, I suppose, but no clean-up or remastering has been done here from what I can see.

The Bootleg set I had was a bit pixilie and digital looking, this looks better than that.

I have a few episodes taped off air from original broadcasts, I'll have to compare the set to those.

Season 2 due out on Feb 10 2009. I hope the video quality is a lot better than Season 1.
