Holocaust Miniseries - edited?

On the back of the "Holocaust 30th Anniversary edition" it says:

May be edited from its original network version.

First of all - it MAY be editited? They don't know whether it has been edited or not?

And what could be edited? Was there anything on that show that was okay in 1978 but not in 2008?

Or is it about music rights or some other rights issue?

Does anybody have any information on this?

The show featured a good bit of nudity in its concentration camp execution scenes when victims went into the "showers." This wasn't the slightest bit erotic but was designed to show audiences just how demeaning and horrifying the entire process was. Much of it was disguised by judicious camera placement and shielding hands, but not all of it.

It's possible that this may have been edited down a bit for the new version.

Weird, I just saw a documentary about Hollywood's depiction of the Holocaust.

From what I gathered from the clips shown, the miniseries War and Remembrance was even more brutal than "Holocaust" (and Schindler's List for that matter).

The footage from War and Remembrance looked unbelievable.....the nudity and violence was in-your-face, in your living room in full color.
