Now I HAVE to get this. Here's why: I popped my Disc 1 of Sports Night in last night. I was starting A Sports Night marathon. One Episode for the next 44 weeknights. After about 15 minutes into the pilot - the moment right after Jeremy's first hilarious Huff (of which many more were to come) the disc just completely froze. The player wouldn't respond at all. Had to unplug it. Tried again. Same thing.

Anyone else have this issue with disc 1?

My girlfriend loves this show.

She already has the first release of the DVD set, but this will be good news anyway

Bought the Set when it first came out...never knew that it was OOP. Love the show, but won't double dip. Definately recommended!

It's official. It's coming September 30 from Shout!, so time to unload your barebones sets.

I'm unloading mine on eBay. Hopefully, I'll get enough for it to cover the cost of the new one.

I'll probably keep the OOP release, but I'm really anticipating September 30th. Thanks Shout!

Two discs worth of extra?

However, I still will only double-dip if they can remove the laugh tracks. The two-discs full of extra sound great, but I don't think I need it unless the episodes are in a higher quality.

Unfortunately they aren't removing the laugh track. It's mentioned in the article linked at TV Shows on DVD that Shout Factory weren't able to remove it.

I'll wait for news on the extras but no laugh track was the one thing I really wanted from this re-release.

The laugh track is kinda discreet and on most episodes you don't hear it. It's certainly not gonna keep me from enjoying this new set

I have to agree. I'd love to have a set without it, but it's not a deal breaker.

No Sabrina Lloyd in the look back? At least it looks like she's on at least one commentary.

So did anyone get this? I was hoping for a review but none of our reviewers have put one up yet.

Ended up getting it for around $5 shipped thru DDD. I had a $35 credit sitting on one of my credit cards for the longest time and I decided to use that to pay for this. I got it yesterday, but I haven't had time to watch it. I too, was waiting for the DVDTalk Reviews but I guess none are coming in the near future. I found a bunch of online reviews by googling and they all say this is what the fans have really been waiting for.

What's the verdict on the video quality? Any better than the old set?

Video quality looked better in the last set, in my opinion. But I'm not using an HD-TV. No Captions Either.

And I'm slightly disappointed in the extras too. No Sabrina in the look back doc. But that ten minute gag reel of season one is pretty good. It makes the 2 minute gag reel for season 2 look awful.

The sound does appear to have more clarity, though.

Shame this is a Shout! Factory release otherwise I would buy right away. Oh well, I'll grab it used on eBay in a few weeks.

I'm boycotting them for the re-release of the "never to be re-printed ever again we promise breaking the molds right now" lie on Freaks and Geeks yearbook. So I'll be picking this up used somewhere down the line.

Thanks for the review links. Sounds like it's really worth an upgrade. This is a prime candidate for the DDD 20% sale.

Don't go down that road... the F&G: Yearbook thread is a nightmare as is.
