Chris Bergmann 04-16-08 10:35 AM

Any idea why there hasn't been any news on this and why this isn't up for preorder anywhere?

InnocentBlood 04-16-08 10:34 PM

i'm interested to know if there's going to be a blu ray release for this.

Same here.

Not sure what other deleted scenes there are.

Were those cuts in the version seen in theaters in the U.S., or just to the U.S. DVD? Where's a decent place to get the uncut version (I'm in the U.S.)?

They were in the theatrical and the DVD. Only place I know of to get the full uncut version is the R4 Aussie Blu-ray.

cc21392 04-17-08 08:49 PM

I'll pick it up because I never got around to buying the first release (I guess my procrastinating finally pays off).

canaryfarmer 04-17-08 09:51 PM

R3 Korean is uncut, both SD and HD.

Snowmaker 04-18-08 06:54 AM

I may upgrade if the case will still fit in my Ultimate James Bond box set.

B5Erik 04-18-08 08:48 AM

I don't know why they didn't include the original TV version of Casino Royale from the 50's. They had it on the spoof 1967 Casino Royale DVD set but are taking it off for the new edition, so it would have made sense to add it here for historical context of the story.

I may just pick this up on Blu Ray, though. It looks like a nice package.

From dvdcompare, a summary description of the cuts: "When the completed version of the film was submitted for classification, reductions to the torture sequence had been made, including the removal of lingering shots of the rope, close shots of Bond's facial reaction and the substitution of a more distant shot of the beating compared to the original version."

It seems to have disappeared from Sony's schedule

TRC 04-18-08 05:12 PM

They probably pushed it back to coincide with the release of Quantum of Solace.

BRAISKI 04-22-08 06:19 PM

Damn I guess I will buy this even though I have the original already... The problem is that I always want to have the "best" version of the DVDs I bought

mbtrent1617 05-13-08 04:10 PM

Will they ever confirm this release???

I posted this on another thread and got shut down......no websites have the dvd yet except amazon. Amazon has been known to be wrong on their details.... i know this has been reported to be out in June but no cover art, etc

mbtrent1617 05-13-08 04:11 PM

i'll be very bitter if they pushed it back til then... i ve been excited about the release

islandclaws 05-13-08 06:41 PM

I'd like this release, but I don't care if they pushed it back. It's more than likely the same cut of the film, with the same DD 5.1 track. I can live for a few more months without bonus features.

Bumping this thread isn't going to bring you information any faster if Sony hasn't released it. And you can rest assured that when Sony does announce a release date it will be posted here almost instantly.

I'm willing to bet we'll see a mid- to late-October release for this.

mike2 05-18-08 09:42 AM

There's still no word if it will include a re-dip on BD?

B5Erik 05-18-08 09:49 AM

The one feature I really wanted on the Casino Royale DVD/Blu Ray still isn't set to be on this set - The original TV version of Casino Royale from 1954 with Barry Nelson playing James Bond!

They put it on the DVD for the 1967 spoof version of CR, so clearly MGM has access to it. It makes more sense with THIS version of CR than that one since the '54 version was played completely straight (and isn't that far off in tone from the 2006 version).

Peep 05-19-08 07:52 PM

Sony put out the latest Casino Royale, not MGM.

Sony owns MGM, so if MGM has the rights to it, Sony could include it.

Paul1957 07-28-08 08:35 AM

Oct 21 release
