With your remarkable opinions on the following threads:

Rate My Collection

A very OCD, but entirely legitimate (for me) question...

Check out my collection

Finally, you found me in this forum and in this thread! Many Thanks!

My titles with the most dips (5) are all Universal films:

VHS > Laserdisc > 3x DVD editions: Smokey and the Bandit / Dracula / Frankenstein (and soon The Mummy)

VHS > 2x Laserdisc > 2x DVD editions: Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

A large part of my DVD collection is a double-dip as I've slowly been converting titles that were in my 500+ laserdisc collection.

It was, in fact, my first Blu-ray, making for seven times.

This doesn't really count...and I'm sure ya'll are gonna laugh at me till I go home crying....but I've honestly bought a copy of "The Notebook" 6 times....and I don't really like the movie enough to WANT to own it....but it is however my fall back movie...it's my early off date movie...the kind of dvd you throw in when you cook them dinner, first time over...well with every break up since that movie was released...bam..they either break it....or take it...why?... I don't know...when I was in high school it was the VHS version of Titanic...

So not sure if it counts as double dip...but there you go

I've bought Dracula, Frankenstein and the Mummy each of the 3 times Universal has released them and Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein 3 times including Blu-ray.

I thought I had to have at least one I bought 4 times, but 3 seems to be my limit.

Then you should be all over this. Counting VHS, I've triple-dipped on Taxi Driver and 2001, with eventual quadruple-dips for the Blu-rays. As far as strictly DVDs, my only triple-dip will be Sunrise - first the Fox Studio Classics, then the R2 MoC, and finally the upcoming Murnau/Borzage set.

While his collection is impressive (or sad ), I don't think what Xage does counts as "dipping."

Double dipping is when you have a title, and later a better one comes out so you buy that to replace it (or maybe just add extras). You're not playing a game of trying to get as many versions as possible; you're just making sure you have the best one available at the time. You may not even keep the old version around. Collecting as many different versions as you can get isn't dipping, in my book. It's not as if people who do that are actually buying them with the intention of watching every variation.

I hear ya Drex, but among the "individual" collective title shots (of which there are many - as s/he seems to be a region 1 completist (whore ) for whovever's sake .... as much it's interesting to see the collective shots (very to me), I want to see the whole sha'bang ..for once.

Nice Terminator 2 collection, xage. Do you have the German Steelbook HD-DVD? I got it and it blows everything else out of the water.

Defintely the first three Die Hard films.

I can remember at least 4 copies of each that I bought on VHS, and then the eventual single-disc DVDs, followed by the 2-disc DVDs in 2001.

Recently, I bought the first three once again in Steelbook at Best Buy. The features are identical to the previous 2-disc editions I had for about 7 years, but I wanted the Steelbook to match the Live Free or Die Hard Steelbook.

I'm dreading my jump to BluRay, because I know that it means yet another batch of Die Hard purchases.

Well, at least you can justify skipping the last one for now, since it's the PG-13 version.

Unless, that is, you want the box it comes in. The set has a single case for all four movies, whereas obviously they come in individual cases when bought separately.

Believe it or not, King Kong (the Peter Jackson version).

I purchased the 2-Disc DVD, then the Deluxe Extended, then the HD-DVD, and I intend to purchase the Blu-ray.

I think that is honestly the most I have ever re-purchased a film.

What's wrong with the PG-13 version? I don't need to hear the F word to be entertained.

Speak for yourself there. I got dragged to that awful Twilight movie and the only thing that made it enjoyable were the F bombs I dropped during the film.

Well that certainly made it enjoyable for everyone else in the theater.
