What were your first VHS/Betamax/Laserdisc/DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray titles?
Don't know if this is the right forum, but I thought I'd start a thread listing your first 5 or so titles on each format. Wasn't old enough to have a big VHS collection (I'm 20), but this is a list of the firsts from my HDM and DVD collections:

FIRSTS!
VHS -dubbed copy of Nightmare on Elm St. 3 and Goonies DVD -Mallrats. the whole reason I got into DVD. HD-DVD -Sorry, didn't fall for this! Blu-ray -Halloween, Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead. Anchor Bay made my choice in going Blu. Now everyone else has followed. Thankfully. |
VHS (1980s):
- before my time (I was born in 1985); apparently it was ET for my parents DVD (July 2002, bought infrequently until 2004): - Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - Family Guy Volume 1 - Simpsons Season 1 - WWF: NWO Back in Black (picked it up new for $6, it's like $60 on eBay now) - WWF: Hulk Still Rules (got it new for $2.50 :)) |
Pretty sure the first VHS I bought was ET. I remember the first rentals were The Dogs of War and Back to the Future.
As for dvd, the day I bought my first dvd player, I bought Scream, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Insomnia, Jason X and The Sum of All Fears. |

Well it's taxing on my memory but here goes.
First VHS was I believe Predator 2. Used. From a Mom and Pop video store. Took me 5 weeks of saving my hard earned allowance to get that sucker. I had other titles before then, but that was the first with my own money. First DVD was I think Blade Runner in 98 I think. First Laserdisc was Ghostbusters (WOOT!) |

First VHS was Batman. My dad got it for me for X-mas.
DVD-- I got about 7 at once from Columbia House. Superman The Movie is the fonly one that comes to mind right now. |

House on Haunted Hill (1999) Sleepy Hollow Night of the Living Dead (1990) I didn't even have a DVD player when I bought those but I really wanted to see the bonus features and listen to the commentary for HOHH and NOTLD. That Thanksgiving I watched HOHH at my sisters and around Christmas I watched NOTLD. Then on Christmas day I actually got a DVD player. This would have been in 1999. VHS E.T. I think it must have been around 1987. We were the last people I knew to get a VCR. Everything else Don't own any other formats. |
