I'm kind of sad to see no deleted scenes. When I was a kid, this was my favorite movie and during the credits they show clips of all of these deleted scenes. When I was little it used to drive me nuts and I didn't understand why I couldn't see those parts of the movie.
It still haunts me a little.

Interesting that this comes out a month before Pixar's Wall-E, who bears a resemblance to Johnny 5. I've wondered if studios do this on purpose hoping some people might be confused and pick it up.
Okay, I'm overthinking this
I'll definitely pick this up. It's always been a favorite and I loved how Fisher Stevens almost steals the movie.

I loved this movie as a kid--I had such a crush on Ally Sheedy and I SO wanted to have Johnny 5 as a friend. I may have to get this for nostalgia's sake. Glad I didn't buy the previous release.

I bought the last release at a used store a few years ago and the disc that was inside was the original SE that was released. I have the cover w/ no features listed thats selling now in the cheapo bins. Hope this new transfer is leaps and bounds improved over the non-16x9 one.
I just saw at the digital bits this info:
In other news today, Sony has set Youth without Youth for release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on 5/13, followed by the DVD release of Short Circuit 2, The Take, Cleaner and The Three Stooges Collection: 1937 - 1939 on 5/27.
They also listed Short Circuit for 5/20. So is there going to be a new SE or SS2 as well or just a re-release?

As I recall, the Short Circuit 2 DVD was a basically bare-bones but serviceable DVD-10 (16:9 WS on one side, P/S on the other), so this may well be just a rerelease. I could be wrong, though.

I wonder if the 2004 dvd is oop. I have a sealed copy which really wants to go back to the store (if it still shows up in their computer). I'd take $3 oe $4 to go towards the new anamorphic version.

Don't know. I looked on Amazon and I don't see the DVD listed. Blu-Ray is there, but not the regular DVD...
