I never heard of them.
I never heard of them.
Legend Films is a San Diego colorization and restoration studio. It was founded about 7 years ago by the inventor of the digital colorization process. At this time they have colorized over 50 movies and done some special effects for theatrical release films.
Among the titles you might know:
It's a Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th Street
Heidi
Reefer Madness
The Jackie Robinson Story
The Mark of Zorro
My Man Godfrey

Mike Nelson's stuff has been my favorite Legend product, but I have liked a few of their colorizations. The Reefer Madness colorization was fun and I have to admit I liked the look of 20 Million Miles to Earth in color. I've hated many of their other colorizations though. I thought the Three Stooges shorts and My Man Godfrey were horrible colorized and were as far from natural as you could get.
However, like the colorizations or not they usually give you a really good black and white print as well so I've never seen any harm. I think its great they are branching out to release more films that studios have been sitting on.

I'd add that their release of Little Shop of Horrors was very welcomed by me as that title had long fallen into PD limbo. It could have used a better set of extras more specific to the film, but having a good B&W transfer of the film in my collection gives them a thumbs up in my book.

I've checked BB, CC, and Barnes and Noble.
None of them are even listing it on their sites.

Target has had it out for over a month now. They had an exclusive on the first batch of Legend releases. I believe Best Buy gets the exclusive "first" release on the next wave of Legend titles.

It wasn't at all Targets, it was just at SOME Target stores. The Best Buy Exclusive thing will also only be at 100 Best Buy stores, but they claim it will be available on Best Buy's web site.
I'd also say I wouldn't blind buy it, it's a goofy movie, very Naked Gun, I think a lot of the charm of it lies in the nostalgia factor. If you saw this as a kid, you will enjoy it now. But I've never shown this to anyone who hadn't seen it as a kid and had them like it.

As a kid I had a group of friends who always quoted this movie, and as a teenager I made another group of friends who were already quoting from this movie. So although the movie is little-known I've rarely known too many people who weren't familiar with it. I lent it to a friend recently (now that I'm getting up there in age) and she liked it and was quoting right away. It's not that it's comedy genius or anything, just lots of bizzare things being said that stick in your head, "I thought it sounded as though you were talking through a rubber chicken!".
