Azumi - 2 Disc Collector's Edition
 

i just got this recently...

i already knew i was a fan of Ryuhei Kitamura...

but man i liked this film... what a blast... and some depth to it as well...

i think this may be his best work...

i also like this release...

thoughts?...

I thought it was okay, but overall pretty boring. I wanted to like it more than I did. I think shortening the movie would have helped--it just felt really overlong.

i love the film, i didnt think it was too long or boring at all.

assuming you have the R1 2-disc, in case you dont know, that is the shortened version of the movie, the longer one hasnt been released in R1. so you might wanna seek that one out since you enjoyed it so much.

yeah i really liked it too...

as i understand it the difference is a region 1 release at 128 minutes versus the 142 minute original release... is that right?... i got the R1 film as it was $15 and convenient... what is edited out? assuming you have the longer version...

i see reviews that 'Azumi 2: Love or Death' is terrible... it's by a different director, Shusuke Kaneko... but takes up the story right at the end of 'Azumi'... and royally sucks...

for $14 ... its worth! I got this at that cost from Borders.

But I heard the best release is the Japanese Limited Edition

I could be wrong, but I think the 128 minute version was the one released in theaters in Japan.

The 142 minute version was a sort of exclusive only sold in Japan on DVD. That cut hasn't been released anywhere outside of Japan.
