Paramount DVD packaging changes
I noticed that Paramount changed the artwork of the "Ordinary People" DVD last year, and just this week I saw that they've changed the artwork for the "Love Story" DVD.
I'm curious...have the DVD's themselves been upgraded/remastered? The new packages don't specify this, so I'm assuming they're not. But I'd be interested to know if anyone has a definitive answer about this. Thanks |
I believe that they are just repackagings, and that the actual disc content is the same.

Paramount has done that with a lot of titles, and the discs are the same as originally released, except they now have silver labels.
As you can tell, the revised cover art often stinks but once or twice it was almost effective in tricking me into buying one or two because I thought they were special editions at first. |
not only they release their SEs in boring ass Amaray cases but they also change the artworks later on to even more crappy artworks...

First they move the classy "Widescreen Collection" from the bottom to the top, then they get rid of inserts ;) and now they re-release their catalog, replacing the original movie art with (sometimes) very ugly replacements.

It's just a way for them to get older catalog titles back into stores that no longer stock them. By putting out a "new" release the stores, and consumers, are tricked into thinking it's a new edition, so they put them out.
