Friday Night Lights Season 2 ---> April 22, 2008
Tvshowsondvd is reporting that the 15-episode second-season will be available on DVD April 22nd, from Universal.
Looks like no matter what happens with the strike the season is over in 2 weeks.

I hate how they delayed the release of Reservation Road (which has an episode of Friday Night Lights as a "bonus feature") for about 3 months (!!!!) just so they could do some cross promotion. It doesnt even make much sense considering the different audiences for these projects I would think.

awesome for such a quick turnaround. i hope it's at a low MSRP just like s1... but it also makes me a bit uneasy that they're releasing it so soon. on the one hand, good to get it out there for more promotion. on the other, seems like they might release it because they've decided to just end the series at the end of season 2, knowing that even if the strike ends, they won't be making more eps.

Well If we get any extras it will probably be like season 1, with some deleted scenes.

there have been talks that the strike may be ending in the next week or two. That could amount to six or seven more episodes for the seasons, so why not just hold off in case?

But if you think about it. If the strike ended next week then the writers would probably go back to work around the 10th and it would take a good month for producable scripts to go into production. Which means filming couldn't start until mid-late march and with editing and stuff they wouldn't air until late april, which is probably too late within the season.

With the way this show has been performing so poorly during the strike (when it should be doing better since there is little new scripted television), not to mention the drop in quality between the first and second seasons, there's really very little chance that this will be coming back for a third season. The second season was a big leap in faith by the network, in hopes that it would catch on, but it never has. Unfortunately, this is it.

If there will be any extras on this set, I think Universal will probably just take any EPK's that were shot and maybe some online featurettes.

I'm most concern about the music. I hope they've secured all of it this time.

from digitalbits:
And Universal will release Friday Night Lights: The Second Season on 4/22 (SRP $29.98 - 4 discs - extras include audio commentary on 3 episodes, deleted scenes and a featurette on the Pasley Festival panel discussion with the cast and crew)

The show definitely hit a sophmore slump compared to the first. If there is no 3rd coming, I'll certainly not purchase season 2. I'll just enjoy S1 and pretend the end of it is the end of the series.

On that note, I do think that the show would not only have a better chance of survival but would probably be more lucrative as well as maybe even more popular if it was moved to a network like USA or CW.

That movie web article is only saying that they are negotiating. Nothing has been finalized yet. I think the writer just made an assumption.

I'm not sure how another season would work with a lot of people like Riggins and Smash graduating, but I'd at least like to see them finish up the second season, since it didn't go to the end of the school year since it was cut off early.

I just picked this up and started watching the first episode. I couldn't believe how much grain there seemed to be just in the first scene. Is this normal? Looking at the sky in the opening scene where everyone is hanging out by the pool looked like bad TV reception. I threw in an episode of The Office to compare, and that seemed as crisp as ever. Anyone else notice the same thing? Is it just some sort of shot on video thing?
