Can I expect a 2-disc edition of 3:10 to Yuma (2007) & Eastern Promises anytime soon?
Let us say by the end of this year. Or should I just get the current 1-disc releases? Because the DVD reviews are solid.

Yeah, I know what you mean...
Eastern Promises is very thin on extras and that's causing me to hesitate on making the purchase. I picked up the BD of 3:10 to Yuma, so no plans to double dip there.

Lionsgate really only double-dips franchise titles (by which I mean SAW). And if Universal was too lazy to get Eastern Promises a commentary the first time around I see no real likelihood that they're going to rush out and do it later. I mean MAYBE if it scores an Oscar, but I doubt it.

I don't see Eastern Promises getting a SE anytime soon.
I could see it in 3:10 To Yuma's case, if only because it has been selling well on DVD. But again, no guarantees.

Highly doubtful on 3:10 to Yuma simply because of the Lionsgate factor. And they released it on Blu-ray and if another DVD with more extras were to come out so soon after, BD owners would be pissed!

3:10 to Yuma was pretty stacked as it was. As for Eastern Promises, highly doubtful in the near future, if ever.

If either wins some Oscars, I could see a re-release...but in reality, I can only see 3:10 to Yuma.

I'd love to see Eastern Promises get the Criterion treatment since that movie has such a rich story with great background info, plus a commentary would be nice. Still, the current release will be the best you can get for a while, if ever.

Since I already got 3;10 to Yuma, I would have to say a 2 disc version is in the works. Seriously, though, I highly doubt it any time soon. If you like the films, buy the dvd's. Enjoy them. Then if another version comes out down the line, cross that bridge when you come to it. You can't put a dollar amount on the enjoyment you get from being able to watch these films whenever you want.
