Did the remastered single disc edition of THE MATRIX ever come out?

I know that it was in the box, but that was years ago...

Nope, not as far as I know.

Robert 01-19-08 04:56 PM

No and probably will not since the old single disc version is still in print.

There were never any plans to release the remastered version from the box separately.

Actually, there were plans for an indvidual release of the remastered Matrix. It was even listed on Amazon.com when at the last minute, it was cancelled.

What exactly is "remastered" about it?

It's an all new encode, it's been re-tinted to match the other two films (Matrix-land is more green, etc) and there's a whole lot less compression artifacting. It's pretty smooth looking.

Luckily I found each part of the box set being sold separately at a used dvd store for 3.99 each, so I snagged my copy that way without having to buy the whole set (which I didn't need or want).

When was this? I know prior to the release of the sequels they had a special edition coming out, but they yanked it.

The boxset Matrix seems to look sharper, but I really don't like the green tint.

That was exactly it, but it got nix when WB decided to release a more elaborate boxset of the trilogy.

Exactly, double-dip 101, rule 7 -- release a new and better version of a movie and make it only available in a more expensive box set.
