I'm surprised this isn't getting an unrated cut like so many horror flicks these days. I enjoyed this enough to pick it up. Too bad the cover art sucks.

I really can't see what COULD be unrated. I yelped in suprise at the beheading near the end! "did they just show that!"

What a shame, I'm only interested in renting this because I loved Slade's first film, Hard Candy (and apparently the screenwriter for that did a rewrite of this screenplay too), and was hoping for another great commentary from him. But at least we'll hear from Josh Hartnett about how snow is cold!

I think I'm in the minority here, but I disliked this movie a lot. It didn't offer anything new to the horror world, and it was just kinda annoying to watch from time to time. The premise was really interesting, but it wasn't executed nearly as well as I thought it would have been.

Blood + Episode 1? Is this the first time a full length anime episode has been included on a DVD that's otherwise completely unrelated to anime? I mean, I see the vampire connection, but it's still a little odd.

The theatrical poster art was way better compared this. But this release is good enough for me to pick it up.

Saw this for free with a movie cash coupon. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I have no urgency to see it again.

In for the Blu-Ray version. The cover art is terrible. I agree with mikelowry, the theatrical poster art would've been better.

TWEC Exclusive (in case people of thinking of getting)...

when i went to get my "Beowulf" Steelbook at my FYE, they had an 'Exclusive 2-Disc Limited Edition Set' "30 Days of Night" It is in a keepcase similar to "Batman Begins" from Best Buy which holds the DVD and a bonus disc in a slim case. Could be all TWEC stores of course.

The set is $21.99 with $5.00 mail-in-rebate.

The bonus disc is approx. 24 minutes and contains behind the scenes stuff. It is called "730 Days of Night". It says on it "This mini-documentaryis a chronological collection of on-set video diaries shot during pre-production, production, and all the way through to the premiere. Aside from watching the director and cast work on-set, you'll visit the storyboard artists and costume designers, production offices and meet some of the crew behind-the-scenes. It is a raw, realistic account of the on-set experience and you will feel as though you are watching personal footage you were never meant to see!"

I got it as it is cheaper than the other B&M's and a bonus disc.

Don't know if high def would be worth it. For such amazing technology these days, no one seems to know how to get the settings right on the cameras while filming. Yet another new horror movie that suffers from every other frame dropping out during fast action scenes. The result is very choppy, jerky movement.

Pretty good move though.

When I came out of the film I was just feeling like they could've cut out 20 minutes and made the exact same film.

Watched the BD last night (rented from Netflix), and although I found the film stylistic and creepy, I thought it fell apart at the end -- to the point of being ridiculous. Sad, too, because the the premise sounded so promising.

The posts are starting to venture into Movie Talk territory and there's already a thread over there that discusses the movie.

Anywho, even though I'm not a fan of FYE, I might have to stop by to check out their exclusive.

I was contemplating picking this up today when I got my "Beowulf" Steelbook, just because it was an exclusive and even though I've never seen it, but they were all out of the two-disc version. I guess it was a sign saying "don't waste your money."

Anyone else have problems with it freezing up/pixelating around the 90 minute mark? It looks to be the best part of the movie from what I could make out, where they return to the factory...

I tried it on two Magnavox players, and then on the PC, but freezes at same point every time.
