You own Ghost Rider... Besides that, it's probably the most generic group of movies possible. The only difference between your collection and stuff my unenlightened friends own is that they have crap like ATL or 2 Fast 2 Furious.

As said above, rather than focusing on completing a movie series (MIB2? Why?), get the best of each series.

Many of the films that you own .. well, I also do. Most of them are entertaining, but not necessary deeply laden with messages or thought provocation. But I'll give you props for manning up on Wild Wild West. Most hate it, but I actually found it effective .. extremely stupid fun. It's a lot more entertaining than a large percentage of contemporary Hollywood releases whose sole purpose is entertainment, nothing else.

My only advice would be to branch out. There are far too many genres to explore outside of what you own; never-mind classic or contemporary, foreign or Hollywood, niche or mainstream. I wouldn't even want to begin ...
I'm actually in my last year of college, hence why I don't have more DVDs. Because if I had more DVDs, I would spend all my time watching them instead of actually studying or doing work. Short attn. span, you know.

And as I said, I watch all genres of movies, something I kind of had to do when I wrote movie reviews, and I have fairly general tastes. A movie like Notes on a Scandal is one that I can watch and appreciate, but would have no interest in watching over and over again.

Again...five bucks. For the most part, I have the best of the series': no Batman sequels, no Superman III or IV, no Robocop 3, etc. MIB 2 was a semi-impulse buy that I waited five years to buy until it got cheap enough.

But thanks for the input and the welcome guys. I look forward to talking here.

I could list some pretty damn good, quality movies I got for $5 and/or for under $7.

I'm sure. But I usually just buy new releases nowadays, so I usually end up spending $25 or so every few weeks. I did get Casino Royale for $9, though.

The value of owning a good movie is not for you to be able to watch it repeatedly (especially those with trivial plots, borrring) but for you to be able to recommend it and then easily lend it to friends over and over again.

No one should own six American Pie or Leprechaun movies, or 24(!) films that start with the words 'National Lampoon'. Dog Soldiers is extremely underrated though, and I like the positive thinking behind including the unannounced Night of the Creeps in your owned list.

Most of the National Lampoon stuff is the wifes, and I am a sucker for teen sex comedies and horror flicks. I actually own NotC on DVD-r that I copied from a showing on TMC.

You may possibly be the only owner of both The Double Life of Veronique and The Fast and the Furious. Thumbs up on the Kieslowski set - you need to pick up the Three Colors trilogy. You seem to have a few noirs there, so I'd recommend Detour - watch it in my sig.

Do you mean me? If so I do infact have The Three Colors trilogy. And The Fast and the Furious is just a guilty pleasure. As a lot of stuff people have are.

I'll be honest, I'm a purist film-fanatic, I love movies, I love having people over & sharing them with friends & the technology of Blu makes that even more fun, having films I love look & sound better than ever. So I am just utterly baffled why someone would not only buy 2 versions of the same movie simply for packaging that just sits & collects dust on a shelf (sweeney todd, iron man etc), and then pay the absurdly high prices of them b/c they are from other regions. And what the film-geek in me finds so disheartening is the small (or rather) large fortune you spend on packaging, rather than investing in Blu-Ray versions of the films that would provide the best audio & visual quality of a film possible, for everyone to enjoy.

Genre wise however, you & I are rather similar, I'm definitely more into older films than you, I'm not into Disney films or the Pixar thing at all & you are a bit more into blockbusters than me, but overall you have excellent taste.

There is some major cheese in there, which is cool. A lot of UFC/WWE style stuff, also cool. Decent TV, good docs (I feel it is mandatory to have at least one Michael Moore film and Hoop Dreams), and cool music ones.

As for actual films, there is certainly a lack there.

I would give this a C+...there is room to broaden the horizon, but there is still some cool stuff in there.
