dude, OPs collection kicks ass.
i mean, i would never buy an Alivn & the chipmunks DVD but there are lots of great titles to offset the ones i don't like
anyone who owns Better Off Dead is OK with me
Bad Taste is great
You have the balls to own Big Top Pee Wee and not the original.
(I love both of them)
The Cable Guy! again, i can be friends w/anyone who likes this movie
Clockwork Orange, same thing
lots of Chappelle = A+
Romero is nicely represented
Dr Giggles AND Exorcist
i could go on and on
i have to update my dvdspot page and then i'll post mine

My guess from your collection is that you're a young parent without a lot of undivided time for film watching and that when you do pop something in the player you want something that will entertain your guy friends or something to see with the wife, but in neither case do you want to see films that are going to demand your undivided attention. Is that about right?
thanks

Hope you enjoyed your trip, Yakuza.
Thanks for the comments. The anime titles are a recent addition; I don't really like much in the way of animation, traditional or anime, but I enjoy the themes and stories those particular series offer. It's not an area of my collection I expect to grow much beyond what's there currently, though.
Regarding the Criterion Dreyer set, I did own it at one point but didn't appreciate it and foolishly(?) traded it away. Knowing that there are better versions of the films on DVD elsewhere, I may upgrade eventually. Part of me was happy to see that you didn't harp on the lack of "big" Criterion titles (especially Kurosawa and Godard, neither of which I am fond of) as people have in the past: "How can you have all these, but not ___?"
As for the Hollywood movies, I obviously don't know the specific ones you have in mind, but I'll preemptively mention that I am a longtime unapologetic fan of Ang Lee's Hulk, Cabin Fever and all of Shyamalan's films.

Your TV titles are a bit broader than my tastes would allow for, but also generally great. Great MOC and CC titles (get the Dreyer box set!). You've got several Hollywood hits that I found to be a bore, but that's okay too. All around excellent.

I try to buy the movies I enjoy and watch the most, I do love foreign cinema and (some) classics, but honestly I haven't seen many that have made me want to purchase them

Antoine Doinel, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Sergio Leone, LOTR, Arrested Development, Batman: TAS, Monk, Simpsons, Kubrick, Kurosawa; nice. Comedy, action, tv and animation. Nicely focused. I need to pick up 36th Chamber of Shaolin.

Another question, do you blind buy everything that gets released by Criterion ?
My point is that every great film isn't a French art-house drama, or a Japanese love story or released by Criterion.
Just because I don't have the entire Criterion catalog?
I assume he has bad taste because he doesn't own 113 Criterions?
