The question is would Jesus be bringing new DVDs or used DVDs to homeless shelters (homeless shelters with surround sound home theaters of course)?

To OP ever thought about getting it resurfaced at a game store? |

i justified it to myself by thinking that given that it's a relatively old title (species 2), chances of it being rented again were probably slim, given the volume of new movies and tv shows that the store gets every week ... But, yeah, it's not the most honest or ethical thing in the world. but probably less bad than driving away after running someone over on a dark and deserted road. The second time it happened, I couldn't find my receipt, but the woman working at the shop remembered me buying the scratched up pvd (Talladega Nights) as I had bought a stack of movies there that day, and let me exchange it for a less scratched, working copy. Well, while you're a thief for perpetrating these abhorent practices... you're a down right worthless human being for purchasing these abhorent movies ;) -Doc |

I've never had a problem with a PVD purchase, and most I buy are in nearly new condition without inspection in the store. Unless we're talking about CH enrollments, I don't understand the economics of buying new over slightly used. I buy PVDs that are only a few weeks old for an average of $7 when Hastings has their "buy 2 get 1 for a penny" deal. That's much better than $20 for new titles. Over the course of a month I can own 6-8 more movies for the same amount of money that way.
If it's one of my favorite movies, I'll usually buy new because I want a pristine copy and I don't want to wait to buy it. Otherwise I see no reason to turn my nose up at used titles. |
Bad, bad, bad, bad.

I can't believe no one else has asked yet: what's a PVD?

I once bought a PVD from a hollywood video. Problem was I lost my receipt, so I couldnt take it back to exchange it. The PVD was badly scratched. Several weeks later after trying to figure out how to handle the situation, I rented a copy of the movie and switched discs. I know that is extremely shady ass, but what else could I have done..? It's not murder or robbing a bank, but it is lame. |
I always tuck my receipt into the clip inside the case so I don't misplace it. Then when I watch the movie and verify it is fine I toss the receipt.

You're probably right. I haven't bought anything pre-viewed there in a long time. |

I'm talking $2 for something like American Dreamz. |
I did rent Finding Nemo and returned it with Backdoor Sluts 9 in the case instead, is that bad? ;)

I wonder how much of a deal this disc was if the OP had to pay money to rent a second copy just to make the switch - I haven't rented a movie outside of netflix in years - how much is it these days? $3.99? $5.00 ? ;)
Never bought a PVD through a known rental location. Bought them successfully off of Amazon used *knock on wood* - After seeing some of the discs that come in from Netflix, there's no way I would want to risk it. Most people treat their property like crap. Oh, and don't do it again *raps knuckles with ruler* Michael |
I am having trouble figuring out why anyone should feel bad about this. Either disc could have been the disc he bought originally and just by chance he gets the bad one. It's not like the company won't order a replacement copy for the rental.

I'm not saying I'm always an angel, but how could anyone not feel bad about this? |
If you still rent at a B+M, you get what you deserve
