amazon.com has a seasons 1-7 set available from their website. because of that there is a buy it used option and you can sell yours. i listed mine this evening for $149.99 (which was the low price by a couple of bucks) and it sold in less than 30 minutes. after fees i got about $128. still have season 8 to sell and listed in for $22 bucks. will wind up with around $145 for the seven box sets after amazon fees and shipping charges, and only have to make two shipments which is the best part !!

turned around and used the 50% off coupon and barnes and noble in store to get the complete box for $115.01 ($124 and change after tax). i know it is ringing up cheaper on the B&N website with the 50% coupon ($110 with tax and shipping included), but i figured since i made out so well selling the original sets, the $15 premium was worth it to a) get it tonite and b) get it in person so as not to have to worry about shipping damage !! :hump:

It's like a pretty thick soft cardboard type material. The kind of stuff that you get when you buy a matted picture.

I'm in the process of moving my collection into another section of my Apt. Once I get my shit in order (hopefully this week, trying to get everything done a week before thanksgiving) I'm going to post pics in the collection thread. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for the advice SoonerDoc, I've never sold on Amazon but I'll give it a try.

I put a buy it now for 119.99 on ebay and sold it within one day. I got around 100.00 for it after fees/shipping. I used a flat rate priority mail box to save on shipping though. I paid about 210.00 for 1-8 so I figured I lost about 80.00 considering I would have had to pay 30.00 for season 9 anyways.

Even though I have all the Seinfeld seasons, I SO want that fridge. It'll be a nice little endurance test to see if I can hold out.

If I get it, it'd be nice to just give away my stand-alone seasons to friends.

It's pretty cool, there are some magnets in the cardboard that keep it close and have a little bit of effort to open it :P

MasterCXtreme 11-07-07 01:13 PM

 Damn that's a nice set. I already have seasons 1-8, but I gotta cave on this. Probably just go with the regular set, I don't need the fridge, but the magnets are cool.

This is a chrismas gift for me and I have to wait. :grunt:

you fit 1-8 in one priority flat rate box?

was there room for any cushioning material.

doesnt seem like there would be.

anyone know if these complete series boxsets come in the same slim keepcases like the seperate season releases?

T-bone22 11-08-07 01:57 AM

For those that have the complete series edition, what was the length of the roundtable discussion bonus dvd, and was it pretty good? I've watched what I'm assuming are excerpts, on the season 9 set.

Just under an hour and probably half of that time is wasted showing clips from the show. I was very disappointed in the disc.

Anyone know if the B & N 5-% off coupon still works? If so - what's the code?

whotony 11-08-07 09:16 AM

did you check the b&n code topic?

CaptainRon 11-08-07 09:18 AM

Picked this up last night and I must see this is what a complete series should be ...unbelievable.

Just worked for me a few minutes ago. 60% off $255.....not too shabby!

Check the DVDTalk review for complete details, but the discs are separated into two small (approx. 5"x5"x2.5") books. The review says the discs are in plastic trays, so I'm thinking Digipak trays, sort of like the later Three's Company season sets, but smaller. That's actually one reason I don't want the complete set... I like the individual boxed sets better. If I didn't own any of the season sets and had the money, I'd go for the BEST BUY refrigerator box, though.

I think the excerpts will have to do for me, unless I can find a bonus disc on eBay for a reasonable price, which is unlikely.

Speaking of bonus discs, has there been much discussion of the TARGET bonus disc for Season 9? I've read it's a "best-of" of the previous bloopers, but TARGET claims it's "never-before-seen" bloopers. Who's right?

MikeShaynePI 11-10-07 03:58 PM

Who ever put this coffee table book together should be embarrassed. It is littered with typos. Apparently the first episode of season 9 was called HE BUTTER SHAVE. Even the letter from Jerry in the beginning has mistakes. Pathetic.

While the coffee table book and refrigerator packaging (and magnets) are really nice looking, I cannot justify liquidating the first 8 seasons I already acquired, at approx. $30 for each season. It's too much to lose ($80 by selling the first 8 seasons per one poster on this thread), just to acquire the boxset (with/without the BB exclusive refrigerator packaging).

I wish money were not an issue for me on this set :(

I watched the bonus disc (from the back of the book) and really enjoyed it. They did show too many clips but it was still nice to see the fab four with Larry David again. At least we didn't have to hear about Bee Movie!

JWill85 11-11-07 12:03 AM

I bought the bestbuy exclusive and I'm very impressed. However, I checked each one of the disc's condition and I guess due to the type of packaging they chose, I had some scuffs on a few discs. Only one was real bad, it had a deep scratch across the whole disc. Anyone else have any problems with this?

DVDA 11-11-07 11:50 AM

Well, I have Season 9 now, and as far as The Roundtable goes, I could die happy without ever finding a copy of the full version... the excerpts were enough. Don't really know what I'm missing, though. As for the TARGET bonus disc, it seems to be just a "best-of", and I think where the "Never Before Seen" misconception started was that the blooper reels have always been titled "Not That There's Anything Wrong With That (Never-Before-Seen Outtakes and Bloopers)", so the "best-of" was called "the best of... (repeating the entire name of that bonus feature from the earlier volumes)".

It was worth having, even as just another Seinfeld collectible. Funny, I never cared about the "Re-Gift Sets" or the big book, but I have to have all the bonus discs, even though they're all obsolete now.
