Here's some info I found -- I have the current release but it looks like I'll be ebaying it for this one, not a boatload of bonus material but this still looks good and beats the bare-bones current one:

Features Keep Case
Widescreen - 1.85
Audio:
Mono - English, Spanish, French
Dolby Digital 5.1 - English
Subtitles - English, Spanish - Optional

Additional Release Material:
Audio Commentaries - Norman Jewison - Director; Lee Grant, Rod Steiger - Stars; Haskell Wexler - Cinematographer
Documentaries - 1. "Turning Up the Heat: Movie Making in the Turbulent 60s"
2. "Quincy Jones: In the Heat of the Music"
Featurettes - "The Slap Heard Around the World"
Trailers - 1. Theatrical Trailer
2. TV Spots

I'm getting this but I'd also love to have the TV show on DVD. Haven't watched it in years.

I’m embarrassed to say this because this is one of my favorite films of all-time; But I don’t own In the Heat of the Night on DVD. I don’t own it on VHS or anything. I saw it way back when I was in high school and I thought the film was brilliant; I haven’t seen it since then. "They call me Mister Tibbs!" is probably my favorite movie quote of all-time.

I will most definitely be picking up this DVD!
