Also, the insert inside of Jungle Book lists Sleeping Beauty as the fall 08 Platinum Edition. I just think stuff like Pinocchio, Fantasia, The Rescuers & so on, deserve the Platinum Edition treatment, before they start re-releasing movies that are all ready 2 disc special editions.
Fantasia had a box set treatment already.

So did Toy Story and they still released it as a 2 disc with the special features from the 3rd disc. Which I'd like to see them do with Fantasia, because when I bought the first and second one I didn't buy the box set and I totally regret that.

I still remember queuing up outside our local Cinema waiting to see this - and we got turned away as the screen was full I cried...

We'll be getting 101. Never picked up the "Limited" release.

Personally I doubt a new 2 disc version of Fantasia would be better than the first release unless they include the uncensored version. Lately Disney releases have actually been getting less quality bonus feature content in favor of games and other worthless extras. If you include the bonus disc content the first box set release of the Fantasia films was loaded and still worth getting IMO.

A personal favorite of my little bro's. And I more respect for it now at 25 then I did 15 years ago. At $16.99, I think I can grab one for the both of us.

I am also holding out on an uncensored version of Fantasia. Greatest animated film ever made in my opinion. And to see anything taken out of it, is really a travesty.

Hopefully they'll use a laserdisc from two decades ago to reference the color from so it'll look right.

101 Damatians and Sleeping Beauty in one year!!

Two of my all time favourite Disney animated movies are coming to Platinum DVD in one year - I'm thrilled - I can't wait for the next release of Snow White to see how remastering techniques have improved since Snow White's first Platinum release!

When is Snow White coming out next? The other one I'm really anticipating too is Pinocchio!

I was at Walgreens today, and I saw that they already had this out. It was listed at $22.99.

Does anyone know if Cruella's cigarette has been digitally altered? If it has, no buy for me.

The cigarette has not been touched. It has already been stated the Disney has no intention of altering any of their already produced features to remove smoking. They will simply not be including smoking in any future films.

They should really rerelease the remake as well. No way I'm paying $60 for the old DVD.

So does that mean they're removing the hard-matte or pan and scanning it?

Probably just making it unmatted.

Any pointers to comparisons between the old release and the new one?

The poisonous green smoke trailing cigarette is still very much in evidence , in fact it's used in an anti smoking advert on the DVD , prior to the main feature starting!

Weird - didn't see the warning at all. We didn't do fast play or anything if that changes it.

That isn't completely true on Disney's part. They already edited smoking in Saludos Amigos (Goofy was smoking) and in the Legendary Americans dvd (Pecos Bill was smoking). I think there was one more example of editing in already released films.
