Help with the Twin Peaks watching experience
I am sure this has been talked about before, but I think I'm sorta in an odd place.
A friend had a copy of the Twin Peaks "Pilot" on some fan-made DVD. I have the commercially released Season 1 DVD Set. I watched the pilot, then I started the 1st season on DVD. Of course, the Season 1 DVD starts with the episode saying "previously on Twin Peaks" because of the whole rights problem. As I remember, there was something about the pilot being longer than a normal episode and it could be watched as a separate movie for when it was aired in other countries, or something like that. So pretty much, what I am asking is...should I get this new Gold Box set so I can just watch the whole thing the way it was meant to be watched? On the gold box set, is the pilot that is being included the version with the "give-away" ending, or is it simply the first episode as aired on US Television? Any help would be appreciated. |
The Gold Box set will include both versions of the pilot: the US version, and also the International version, with the extended ending. Hope that helps!

Thanks Rob,
Am I better off not watching the extended Pilot? |

Yeah, the extended pilot veers off into a kind of alternate universe ending that is not in continuity with the rest of the series. So you don't need to get the gold box to get the whole story. The main draw of the gold box will be better extras and a better quality pilot, (which some of us are hoping will be released separately).
