The Spanish Prisoner - not on dvd??

just wondering if someone can confirm that this Mamet film is not on dvd. Also, if it isnt, any plans for an upcoming edition?

cheers

I'm holding a copy of it in my hands. Looking on Amazon it appears to be out of print. Amazon Marketplace sellers have it priced at about $40 and up.

If you are regionless amazon.uk has it for about £4 (should be around $8 but I haven't looked at exchange rates recently).

DOH! :o looks like it's full screen only though :(

DVDEmpire lists it as discontinued by studio as well.

I have the dvd as well.

Was this the last watchable Steve Martin film?

Any potential for a Criterion release? I'll buy anything Mamet.

It's been playing recently on HDnet, so I have hope for a DVD re-release.

On a related note, I've noticed several Sony Pictures Classic movies go out of print recently. Young Adam is one. Not sure if Sony has lost distro rights or what.

No. Shopgirl was very good.

I'd say at Novocaine is watchable.

I had no idea. I bought it for five dollars at an EB Games a few months ago. Awesome!

Yes.

I'd love to see this one get a SE treatment. A criterion may be too much to ask, but would be welcome.

I own it, but had no idea it was out print. I swore I saw it in the $5 bin at Wal-mart 2-3 years ago.

Damn, I remember having chances of getting it but passed hoping for a SE one day. Whoops.

Criterion did say that they had more Mamet coming up. Many speculated it was either this or the never been released Homicide. Or who knows? Maybe both. :)

thanks for the answers guys, hopefully it gets re-released soon.

God, I hope so. Homicide is so underrated and I do not own The Spanish Prisoner.

The Spanish Prisoner is part of 100's of Columbia DVDs that are OOP.
