Finally!!! I have been waiting a long time for this film to be released on DVD. Now if Anchor Bay could put their shit together and release Evil Dead II, I'll be the happiest guy on earth.

Depending on the features, I will buy, this is probably my favorite movie of all time...and if this is as comprehensive as the "Dawn of the Dead" Ultimate Edition, then I'M IN!

This is practically an annual event. The government should get involved and designate a holiday every year for the DVD reissue's release date. It will be Evil Holi-dead day!

I must have at least three different copies of this movie and haven't watched it in at least 3 years. Ya, give me some more 'extras'!!! Does anyone even care anymore? Only "Within the Woods" (highly unlikely) would be of interest, so if that's not on it and it won't be, then this is just the latest shameless cash-in by AB/Starz to milk this title beyond dry. Do earlier versions even have a chance to go OOP before the next edition gets announced?

Of course, we also get to look forward to next year's umpteenth AB/Starz DVD release of HALLOWEEN for its 30th Anniversary. Halloween is already an annual holiday, so government interaction is not needed.

There was supposed to be an Evil Dead version with packaging like the cabin, I wonder if this will be it.

I'm on it, I'll dip as many times as necessary.

An Evil Dead box set that included "Within The Woods" and Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell's early Super-8 films are the only things that would make me rebuy these movies.

It sounds pretty definitive. I bet even Anchor Bay knows they can't keep going after this one.

I have the book of the dead edition... but if this one has the OAR and stuff, I might pick it up. Also the extras better be pretty nice. I'm not even a fan of the first one, I prefer the 2nd and 3rd.

You ever actually watch it? It's pretty much what you would expect from teenagers making a movie: a pretty amateurish piece of shit. At best, it's something to watch once just for the sake of history.

They mentioned this release a few years ago at Flashback Weekend (horror convention in Rosemont, IL). They had an ED Reunion and some of the footage was supposed to be used in this edition. It was supposed to come out last year so when I didn't hear anything, I figured it got scrapped. I'll wait to see what is on this new release before I commit to buying it or not.

WTF? I'd rather have a decent transfer of AOD instead please! ;)
