50th Anniversary Edition SE 2-Disc DVD for 2008?

I am not gosabres1984 and I hope that these titles make more sense than those in the other polls.

All those other threads are pretty tedious, especially when we already had an "SE in 2008" topic that could have included them all.

But could we get an anamorphic Vertigo?

I believe Ive seen the edition listed in the Alfred Hitchcock collection (and also available seperately) listed AS anamorphic

Of course Im holding out now for HD-dvd versions of that and Psycho

On topic, of course I voted for Touch of Evil

How about THE BLOB?

Would be an excellent opportunity to see it in HiDef glory to celebrate its 50th anniv.

Seconded on wanting an anamorphic version of VERTIGO, Hitch's best film.

Touch of Evil is a no-brainer for a 50th. Make it 2-disc with both the restored cut and the mangled '58 version (maybe include the 1970s interm re-edit in seamless branching), the dropped commentary, the dropped "restoring evil" documentary, trailers, the whole Welles memo in PDF form, and maybe some other stuff.

Also, I'd love to see Criterion tackle both Mon oncle and Mr. Hulot's Holiday (both by Jacques Tati) next year. Mon oncle will have it's 50th anniversary, while Holiday will be 55. Both need remasters and more extras like commentaries. The entire English language version of Mon oncle was recently restored.

Vertigo does have a 16x9 remaster in the 15-disc Hitchcock set from Universal and it looks fantastic. Also has the mono track.

I really think gosabres1984 is Norman Lear & he sure loves his spin-offs.

Of course, Norman Lear's Spin-Off's were, you know, good.
