Thanks. I got the LFODH Steelbook, so I was just wondering about the regular (non-Steelbook) 2-disc version. Does it have an insert?
Also, do the features on the Walmart disc even have clips from the movie? The 2 featurettes seem pretty unrelated to the movie (as I suspected).
I'm pretty sure at this point that I'm going to get the Steelbooks. But before I do, can someone confirm that the Costco discs have exavctly the same content? I'd hate to have to triple dip.

Sorry, I kind've skipped over that part of your question, while trying to get all the steelbook variations straight in my head. 
I'm afraid I can't say much about the content of the Walmart disc, since I only read the featurette descriptions on the back cover. But both were originally Fox Movie specials, so I imagine they probably have nearly more clips than actual content.
Oh, I like having the extra footage. It just seems like we've gone from deleted scenes and branching options to having one film with missing footage.
For example, I really liked how Willis delivered the "I ran out of bullets" line in the theatrical cut. It just seemed very "John McClane-ish". So naturally, it isn't there on the unrated version. I agree with droidguy that it would've been better to have the theatrical cut enhanced by the unrated content rather than changed. But even then, I guess there would still be some people upset that a "PG-13" swear had been replaced by one that's rated "R". Oh well.

I finally received my Costco box in the mail today, and Costco.com used the dreaded shitty two sheets of cardboard sealed around the DVD to package the order for shipping, and it arrived crushed to death. So just FYI for anyone planning to order the box from Costco.com, mine took 10 days to arrive and their order packaging doesn't provide much protection. I wrote them an e-mail about getting a replacement, since I don't have a Costco warehouse anywhere near where I live. 
Edited to add: Apparently they took the box off of Costco.com anyway... it doesn't show up in a search anymore and entering the item number (237793) yields "invalid item."

I just got this tonight from Target. My wife and I were watching the Unrated version (Of course) and throughout the run of the movie we noticed the movie would pause for a moment once in a while almost similar in a way to an old layer change (Something I've not seen in ages). Needless to say this totally threw me off and it was quite jarring.
Was this a normal thing due to the Unrated scenes branching into the PG13 version of the film or could it be a DVD/DVD player issue? Anyone else experiencing this or should I try exchanging my copy? It's really annoying, I'd say it happened about 3 times in the first hour or so.
I'm using a Samsung upconverting player model DVD-1080P7

I noticed one slight pause in the unrated version. It was right before the scene change going into the part where an airbag is deployed if I remember correctly. Some cop froze with his mouth open. We laughed about it. That was the only one I noticed.

Mine froze once right before the 'breaking into the car/air-bag' scene started; I just assumed it was a faulty layer change.
I won't be at all surprised if Fox put out rushed and faulty discs, I'm really not surprised by anything they do now.

I only experienced once minor pause that I normally associate with a layer change. No other hiccups though!
It's a sad but true state of DVD technology that unfortunately, not every disc will always be compatible with every player. I had a disc one time that froze completely at the layer change, but only on one player I had. And it wasn't a cheap brand name either. Best of luck to you on this issue though.

Luckily, if memory serves, all the switches happened at slow moments in the movie-- it would be a much bigger issue if there was a pause like right before the car hits the helicopter or something

there shouldn't be more than 1 layer change while a movie is playing otherwise it's just retarded. maybe if they didn't put all that extra "digital copy" crap on it we wouldn't be having this kind of problem.
