Mario Bava Box Set Volume 2 - October 23rd!!
Wow, great news! I am pleasantly surprised by this announcement. I did not expect two sets this year. I know Tim Lucas recently recorded three new commentaries.
Sweet jebus! I didn't think this would be out anytime soon, let alone this year. Any idea of what films we can expect? Vol. 1 was awesome so I expect this to be just as top-notch.
That news has made me very happy!
October 23 is officially the greatest day in DVD history.
Breathless, Under the Volcano, and Days of Heaven from Criterion...Stanley Kubrick and O Lucky Man! from Warner...and now this Bava set. What am I missing? |
Very cool. Can't wait for the movie list. I wonder if they'll keep the same artwork from the first boxset?

This upcoming release was mentioned in the July 23rd issue of Video Business magazine. The Mario Bava Collection: Volume 2 is a 6-disc box set with a $49.97 MSRP. Street date is October 23rd. Movies include:
Baron Blood Lisa and the Devil Roy Colt and Winchester Jack Four Times That Night Bay Of Blood 5 Dolls for an August Moon |
I wish it had Hatchet for the Honeymoon rather than Roy Colt and Winchester Jack.
I'm hopeful that the audio for BAY OF BLOOD (Twitch of the Death Nerve) will be restored to a halfway listenable track considering how awful the old Image disc was - that was probably the worst audio track on any DVD release ever - no contest.
Sounds like a good set, even though I already have all of these. Hopefully, LISA AND THE DEVIL will look better as well. |
Excellent news indeed!
Yessssss....this is awesome! Thanks OP.
It sure would be nice of Anchor Bay to start releasing these titles separately. For instance, I would've liked to have owned The Girl Who Knew Too Much and Black Sabbath, but I'm not really interested in Black Sunday, Knives of the Avenger and Kill Baby Kill. The same thing applies to this set as well.
If they released these titles separately, the best price you could hope for would be an MSRP of $14.95 each. Which means you could probably pick each disc up for around $10. You can get Set 1 for under $23 at DDD, and Set 2 will probably be available at the same price. You wouldn't be saving much money.
I picked up the first set for $19.99 at Amazon. They probably still have it at that price.
hmmm i already have 2 of the 6 and im not interested in 2 of the other 4 but if i find it for $20-$25 like i got the previous set, im in.
Yeah, I know the box set is cheap, but I don't want the other titles, nor do I know anyone who would be interested in taking them off my hands.
Oh well, I guess if that's the only way to get them, I'll go that route then. |
I definitely want this, especially for Lisa and the Devil, Bay of Blood, and Baron Blood
I'm seriously gonna need a second job to pay for all the releases this fall/winter.

sorry I had to laugh, the current Amazon price is 45 bucks... I stupidly did not preorder the set when it probably was 20 dollars - this time around though I will. |
the first box set went up at amazon but its still only $22.87 at deepdiscount
Best news I've heard all week!
I was planning to buy the Bava Set Vol. 1. Now here comes Vol. 2. Holy crap my DVD must buys are piling up!
Hmmm...Bay of Blood? I would like to buy it separately since the other movies would be blind buys, but the box set may be enticing if it is priced right.
Erik the Conqueror will also be released separately the same day.
The three new commentaries are for Baron Blood, Bay of Blood, and Lisa and the Devil. |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:29 PM. |
