The Ultimate Sci-Fi Collection still isn't up for pre-order on Best Buy's website, and my local Best Buy had no further information when I called them today. Not sure why they're waiting until the last minute to put it up for order...

Each has his own opinion. Some like sci-fi and some don't!

I'm beginning to think the Sci-Fi Collection is not going to be offered for pre-order online, given that we're now less than 2 weeks away from its release, and it's still nowhere to be found at BestBuy.com...

I'm guessing it's delayed - maybe they will both be out in October.

Hmm...September 4, and it still doesn't show up on Best Buy's site.

This is getting confusing. Universal has a classic sci-fi set and a horror set. WB has some horror coming out. Fox has some horror titles coming out soon, too, I think. Is there a list so that we can keep track of all these damn classic sci-fi/horror sets coming out this fall? (I can't seem to find anything definitive via Search.)

The Sci Fi Coll. was at BB today...a week early!

All the prints are beautiful, especially "Dr. Cyclops!" Can you imagine if they had fully restored this Technicolor print and put it out on HD DVD...we can only dream!!!

The only OAR in question is the 1.33:1 of "The Deadly Mantis." Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on this one.

Dr. Cyclops....1.33:1
Cult of the Cobra...1.85:1
Land Unknown...2.35:1
Deadly mantis...1.33:1
Leech Woman...1.85:1

"RETIRE THOSE LD'S NOW!!!"

Sparks...thanks for the link?

What's the actual title of this release? I can't find it on BB's site. How many copies were at the store?

Well, DVDDrivve-in has the titles of all the MGM, Fox titles. There were about 10 copies of the Sc Fi Coll. 2 at BB.

Sorry, my last post should have said "Thanks for the link!" not "Thanks for the link?" Typo.

That's strange that it's not up on the BB site yet. I live in DC, and every BB near here sucks...big time. I doubt they'll get the SF Coll. 2. I'm hoping to order it online. Hmm...

Crap. Wish I would have seen this earlier today! It's 5 minutes 'til the store closes...Oh well. Hope some stores in the L.A. area still have some copies tomorrow.

Some stores may be breaking the release date. They're not supposed to do that. A lot of stores will refuse to sell it to you even if they have it waiting in the store-room out back and you ask about it.

But others will stuff it onto the shelf the minute they get it.

I bet it won;t appear online until the day. If it appears at all.

I'm on vacation and was psyched when I read this thread late last night about an early release. Alas, nothing but heartbreak at the two Cleveland area BBs I went to.

I did notice that all the films were copyrighted 1997, the same year they were done for the LD Box Set. So, I guess they used the same prints and probably no type of restoration, just a port over.

These came in last week at my store, but I don't think the register will allow anyone to buy a copy. Can't wait to get mine on Tuesday.

I like Sci-fi but most of the movies in the first two collections are pretty bad. You have to like really bad Sci-Fi to like these. I like the B movie horror so I'm definitely buying the Horror set.

More reports over on CHF that folks enquiring at Best Buys are being told that the title isn't on the system and that they never heard of it.

And someone has got hold of BB's Sunday advertiser and it's not in that either.

In the same thread, someone else says they bought theirs today.

Great marketing huh. Why are Universal keeping in with these jokers?

I suspect that come Tuesday..it WON'T be on the website, and it will be in just a few stores. And there will be a few gloating posts from those lucky enough to have it and a lot of angry posts from the rest of us.

I looked for it tonight at Best Buy with no luck on it being out early. I too looked at next weeks Best Buy ad and nothing was mentioned. I guess I'll be heading out first thing Tuesday morning.

I e-mailed Best Buy Customer Service today to ask when this set will be available online. Here's the oh-so-wonderful response (consider that today is, in fact, September 8...and I pointed out in my e-mail that the release date is scheduled for 9/11/07):

"_______________,

I am ______________ with Best Buy Customer Care.

I understand your concern about the availability of the second volume of
the collection.

The pre-ordered item has a release date of 09/11/2007. Pre-ordered items
are shipped when they become available after the release date. Please
check back on a few days before that date to see if it is available."

Perhaps math skills don't come into play for these folks too often...

So basically the marketing is 'come to Best Buy on the release date and we may have it there.' Nice. This is why I barely bother with them anymore.

The store I work at didn't receive many copies, so I suggest to anyone that wants one, wait outside on Tuesday before opening

If only they'd put the damn thing up for pre-order on the website. Man oh man do I hate it when they turn these exclusives into a race, because that means there are always folks who for one reason or another lose out.

And it's so unecessary.

stupid, stupid, stupid.
