I love the little toys for the most part.. but feel they should be optional.

I'm a collector of little toys and figures from game/anime series' so I'm fine with them for the most part. With that said, when they try to force you to purchase one (raising the price from what might be $20 to $35) I don't like that. I like to choose which ones I'd want and which I don't.

Hell no. I'm almost 40 years old, and still single. It's hard enough with the ladies without having a bunch of of collectible DVD toys hanging on my shelves!!

I hate that knick-knacky crap. Into the landfill.
The fact that the 5th disc of Blade Runner comes only in that stupid wank set pisses me off.

Depends.

If it's a cool toy without being too much extra $ (like the Hellboy figure, which was an awesome figure and only $10 extra), then yes. But something like the little 300 Helmet, which isn't that cool, and adds way more than $10 to the price is not worth it.

'Yay'. For me, there's not much of an incentive in purchasing just a single disc DVD movie because they tend to get discounted quickly after it's released and there's nothing to differentiate it from the remainder of my movie collection. As I see it, the inclusion of collectibles adds an element of interest and novelty over the standard fare, and keeps me in this hobby. I also extend this philosophy to video games in SE/LE packaging as well (I've got deposits on Halo 3 Legendary Edition and Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition). Although I'm a sucker for slick pakaging, if I have no interest in the film (or game), the collectible in question is irrelevant in the decision-making process.

I say yea to collectibles, sometimes theyre worth the extra money and sometimes theyre not. As long as they give us the option, I'll be happy.

I love different packaging, such as steelbooks and digipaks, as long as it still fits on the shelf.

I don't like trinkets and other knick-knacks with my dvds. I'd rather have more features on disc as an extra.

No, I don't care for them. I understand other people do and that's fine, but I don't need them, and I also don't need them jacking up the prices just to get them. I'm happy enough with a 2 disc version of a movie ( disc #1- The full length feature movie disc #2- some extra features and some historical features too for the movies that apply ) that's all I want. You can have the "toy's"

I wouldnt waste money on any sets that came with collectible Masks, or Figures ETC. Id never put anything like that up in my house, so I just prefer the DVD by itself.

My mistake - I meant $5 not $10

I say offer people both versions, with and without. In the past I would go for the collectible, but now I am space challenged. I am getting the Bladerunner breifcase and haven't figured what to do with that yet....But studios should offer both.

I go out and get the figures or statues sometimes to display with the DVD anyway, so the "toys" being an optional set for purchase is great for me. I got the Hellboy figure and bust and the Matrix bust sets all for cheap when they were marked down. I got the 300 helmet but not the V for Vendetta mask, it's a great option as long as it is an option and not the only way you can get the movie.

As for non-comics related "toys" and extras, I don't really need a miniature Puffy Shirt or Monk's Diner napkin/mustard/ketchup set or Office Space stapler/mug/mouse pad set, but I got some of those too when I found the price was not much more than the DVD alone.

If you like them, get them, if not, nobody is forcing you to. I don't get how is it a problem that even needs to be addressed, unless it's just to have a chance to be scorned by those who sniff that they are "above" such juvenile things.

I voted nay. If the Simpsons or Futurama did it I would feel differently. I wouldn't pay outrageous amounts of money for them, but if it was reasonably priced "collectors" set with a toy then I might.

Same thoughts about the matter here. However, in some countries you get to have your cake and eat it too!!

I prefer slick, unique or refined packaging but only for the films that I really enjoy - well except one, the i, Robot Sonny head bust. I don't collect releases simply due to packaging or "toys" just for the sake of it ... like some that do indiscriminately (film-wise, packaging or items within) on another forum I check out occasionally. Though I have unloaded on a few import sets for both the film and the collectible mini-statues that came with. I love the things and don't regret the purchases. It's an uncommon affair but I still voted "Yay".

It's bad enough that my woman has to put up with my DVD collection of "only" 200 and my obvious film nerd-ism. But she'd probably leave me over something like a Keanu bust on my desk or a briefcase for a "nerdy" sci-fi film like Blade Runner on my shelf.

Can't stand 'em. Don't even kid yourself or anybody else by calling them collectibles. These are junky trinkets at best!

Glad I found someone who can look past my hobbies then.

I obviously vote for "sure", but I still agree there should be options. Sometimes I like the little add-ons, sometimes I couldn't care less.
