Boy Meets World DVD's finally a possibility!
|
That's good to see. I always liked Boy Meets World; the possibility of the complete series would be nice.
Now if only Universal would ****ing license out American Dreams, so we could get official releases of Seasons 2 & 3. |
Loved this show-- a cut above, in my estimation-- and was disappointed when the DVD releases were abandoned. Great to hear ABC is putting further effort into it. I wonder if the new distributor is going to reissue seasons 1-3 under their name, or start at 4. Let's hope they go all the way.
--THX |
Hopefully Shout Factory, Anchor Bay, or some other smaller company will get the distribution rights. A smaller company will more likely continue with the series until the end, even if sales diminish with each new season.

I would love to see Shout Factory! pick this up as I know they will do it proud

I really hope this is true! I would loved whatever studio that might pick up Boy Meets World (I hope for DVDFreaker's sake it isn't Shout Factory!) releases a "Complete Series" set because I'm sure it would sell extremely well.
Now it's time for all the 10 million other shows that havn't got more seasons released for smaller studios to get the rights to these shows & bring em' out. |
good news, hope this fully pans out. i have the first 3 seasons and want the to get a complete set.

Looks like Lionsgate has bought the rights to many shows including Boy Meets World!

http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Boy-Mee...Acquired/10252 I still need to pick up a copy of Season 3. |
WOW, I would LOVE this if it happens! :)
|
I'm hoping they get these in production and out soon enough. Same with some of their other properties they picked up.
|
...I'm more excited for October Road Season 2
I love BMW, but Ive seen them soooo many times I have no reason to buy the DVD sets. |
Most Shout Factory discs are closed captioned, I imagine Boy Meets World would be since the TV broadcasts were. I thought it was kind of odd that the Electric Company discs weren't captioned, though given that show's format it might be a little hard to do. Lazy bastards didn't even put any chapters on that, which should have been a requirement!

Re: Boy Meets World DVD's finally a possibility!
Having finally gotten a new TV, I've found how much of a pain it is to get closed-captions from DVDs to display- the signal won't go through at all on HDMI, so I also have component cables hooked up. Then you have to set the player to 480i to watch with captions, then set back to 1080p when you're done. Wish someone would just include a caption decoder in a DVD player, like computer DVD player software does.
A couple years ago Warner stopped including closed-captions- instead they added a subtitle track done closed-caption style (SDH), their newer titles seem to have just SDH subtitles and not the standard ones with just dialogue. |
Re: Boy Meets World DVD's finally a possibility!
Freaks and Geeks is closed-captioned.
And I hope they re-release seasons 1-3 of Boy Meets World. These prices are ridiculous. |
Re: Boy Meets World DVD's finally a possibility!
Boy Meets World is back on the air, they show two episodes every morning M-F 6-7AM(Central Time) on ABC Family. I have been dvr'ing them every day, and would gladly buy the show on dvd if more releases continue. Just rerelease 1-3 as well, I am not paying the prices on ebay or amazon.

Re: Boy Meets World DVD's finally a possibility!
TVshowsondvd.com is reporting that Lionsgate will re-release volumes 1-3 on September 7.
Boy Meets World - Lionsgate Announces Reissues of Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3 No sign of Season 4 yet, but the first three seasons (long discontinued by ABC/Disney) return to DVD this September Posted by David Lambert 6/14/2010 Cory is your average guy. He has a best friend from the other side of the tracks, a teacher that constantly keeps him on his toes, and a friend named Topanga whom he has trouble understanding. With the support of his parents and his brother Eric, Cory learns to cope with the roller coaster called growing up. Catch up with your favorite gang, Cory, Shawn and Topanga, as they survive the trials of junior high and high school. "Boy Meets World" is a top fan-favorite that aired for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000 on ABC, part of the network's TGIF lineup. Start your collection with Seasons 1, 2, and 3 on DVD. Back in August 2008 it was announced that Lionsgate Entertainment had contracted with ABC/Disney for the DVD rights to a group of TV shows. One of these programs mentioned in the announcement was the popular Boy Meets World series starring Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, Will Friedle and William Daniels. The first three seasons had been released in 2004/05 by ABC/Disney, but plans for the fourth season set's production were tabled and the entire release plan seemed to be stalled. Since then those three earlier seasons sets have been discontinued, and right now nothing is being produced. So when Lionsgate took over the rights, fans were very pleased, but nothing was said about their plans for the show until earlier this year, when fans began reporting that Liongate's customer service at their online store began responding to e-mails with the information that "The next season is currently scheduled to release fall of 2010." Everybody, including us, took the wording of "the next season" to mean Season 4, since that's the next unreleased season out of the show's 7-year run. But fans who missed the earlier DVD releases wondered if Lionsgate would begin with reissues of the first three seasons. The answer is YES! This morning Lionsgate announced to retailers that on September 7th the studio will release Boy Meets World - Season 1, Boy Meets World - Season 2 AND Boy Meets World - Season 3. Each one will be sold separately as a 3-DVD set for $19.95 SRP per package. The specs shown on these each list full screen video, English 2.0 Dolby Digital Sound, and closed captioning. Running times given by the studio to retailers are 525 minutes for Season 1, 506 minutes for Season 2 and 491 minutes for Season 3. These specs, including running times, seem to be a match for the previous ABC/Disney DVD releases. Bonus material was also found on those old (discontinued) sets, but so far Lionsgate has not mentioned any extras for the new releases. Package cover art is shown below for these, and as you can see Lionsgate will simply re-use the cover designs of the old ABC/Disney packaging. Pre-orders aren't available yet for Amazon.com in the United States. However, the Canadian branch of Amazon.ca IS already taking discounted pre-orders right now for Boy Meets World - Season 1, for Boy Meets World - Season 2, and for Boy Meets World - Season 3 (our thanks to reader Neil Hiltz for spotting those for us!). There's no announcement about the long-awaited DVD release of Boy Meets World - Season 4 so far; Lionsgate (and their Canadian distributor, Maple Pictures) apparently will begin with the re-releases of the first three seasons. We'll keep an eye out for Season 4 info, however, and also bring you updates and USA-based pre-order listings for the three announced titles just as soon as they are available. Please stay tuned! |
Re: Boy Meets World DVD's finally a possibility!
Thanks for the info!
Looking forward to picking up Season 3, since it's one of the three I never picked up. |
Re: Boy Meets World DVD's finally a possibility!
That's cool. I never got those seasons so it will be nice to get those. Especially since they will probably be $20 a pop.
