What horror classics are coming from WB,Universal and Sony this fall?

MGM and Fox have announced there releases but where do the other studio's stand.Any chance for Frankenstein 1970,Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus?

If Universal has Phantasm II and Sony has Night of the Creeps, I'll be excited. Twilight Zone: The Movie will be a must once it's announced.

I think those monster double feature re-issues will be Universal's offering.
I thought I read somewhere about CREATURE WITH ATOM BRAIN, GIANT CLAW, THE WEREWOLF from Sony. Could be mistaken.
If WB does anything I'll bet on Dark Shadows double feature.

I did read on Tim Lucas' Video Watchblog, a pretty reliable source, that Sony is readying their Hammer titles for release "later in the year." This could include films like The Gorgon, Maniac, The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, The Devil Ship Pirates, and more.

And now that the Midnight Movie line has been revived at MGM, I am optimistic that Twins of Evil/Vampire Circus will be on the lineup for next summer or fall, even if they weren't chosen this year.

Warner Bros. is releasing Oliver Stone's The Hand.. they confrimed that on one of there chats

Mr. Cinema 06-29-07 07:25 PM

I think Psycho and The Birds are getting re-released with the "Legacy Series" banner from Universal.

Frankenstein 1970 is supposed to be coming in a box set with some other AA titles.
Also Twilight Zone is due, as is a Night/House of Dark Shadows dbl feature.

.

That would be the Columbia set (now from Sony, of course since their acquisition). The films will be The Giant Claw, Creature with the Atom Brain, The Werewolf, Zombies of Mora Tau - plus "one other title as yet not known". They won't be available to order individually. The box is themed, of course as they are all Sam Katzman productions.

No news as to anything from Universal yet, aside from some tired old retreads of the "legacy" horror films, Dracula, Frankenstein...etc. I;d hoped we'd have had news about an Ultimate Sci-Fi Collection Volume Two (but this time, not Best Buy only, please)...but nothing so far...

Nice, but the real goodies this year appear to be the glut of titles from Warner and MGM (owned by Sony and distributed by Fox!)

Possibly THE MAN WHO TURNED TO STONE.

Nebiroth 06-30-07 10:22 AM

Other possibility being The Night the World Exploded (originally a double bill with The Giant Claw)

Or 27th Day, The Mad Magician or Son of Dr. Jekyll. Don't know if any are Katzman or not.

I think not.

I browsed the Katzman filmography and the two films above seemed to be the only ones that fitted in the box, and I don't recall seeing the ones you mention here.

The box seems to be Katzman and sci-fi-horror-ish themed, presumably for Halloween.

and that long awaited monster squad disc

Scott Connors 07-04-07 08:38 PM

A special edition of Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon, with some extras this time, would be nice.

I just wish this title would hurry up and get a price drop already...

billz 07-05-07 06:29 AM

Night of the Creeps and Killer Party would be welcome.

Universal will be releasing two exciting DVD box sets in time for Halloween as “Best Buy” Store exclusives. A “Horror Collection” set will include MAN-MADE MONSTER, HORROR ISLAND, CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN, NIGHT MONSTER and THE BLACK CAT (1941). A second “Sci-Fi Collection” set will include DR. CYCLOPS, THE DEADLY MANTIS, THE LAND UNKNOWN, THE LEECH WOMAN and CULT OF THE COBRA. No release date has been set yet, but Best Buy's press contact confirms that the sets will arrive before Halloween with retail prices of around $20 a piece.

old-boo-radley 07-12-07 08:47 PM

That set looks good for the price. I hope Universal gives us Phantasm II as well.

Cameron 07-13-07 02:21 PM

that was being talked about in the ultimate sci fi thread...looks like same idea. I'm in for both

Nebiroth 07-14-07 04:48 AM

Indeed. Poxy flippin' Best Buy again though!

Spare a thought for those of us outside the USA.
